This program is part of a series of activities involving the donation of fruit and dairy products by 10 New Zealand companies to four charities for children and women in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi . A total of over 350 crates (equivalent to 7,000 kg) of fruit and 1,000 liters of milk were donated in this phase.

This is the third consecutive year that New Zealand fruit exporting companies have donated New Zealand fruit to Vietnam. The program has expanded in scale since its inception in 2021.

At that time, New Zealand companies donated New Zealand apples and kiwis to doctors, nurses , and patients at eight hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City during the social distancing period, as part of the "Be Strong Vietnam" campaign launched by the Living Foundation and the New Zealand Embassy in Hanoi.

By 2022, seven New Zealand fruit exporting companies had donated 10,000 kg of fruit to five charities for children and women in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

This year marks the first time the program has included leading New Zealand dairy companies, donating milk in addition to their annual fruit donations.

New Zealand's Consul General and Commercial Counsellor, Scott James, said: "I am delighted to be here today. This is a very meaningful event. Over the past three years, through this program, New Zealand businesses have had the opportunity to share their quality products with those in need in Vietnam. New Zealand companies also want to join hands in helping the Vietnamese people and together make life better."

Established in 1993, the House of Fortune is a place where people with disabilities and underprivileged children live together as a family. The House of Fortune provides housing, medical care, physiotherapy, education, and vocational training. Children from disadvantaged backgrounds and people with disabilities can study, learn a trade, and find work here.

Earlier, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand to Vietnam, Ms. Tredene Dobson, shared her delight at seeing that the initial idea to support the Vietnamese people during the Covid-19 pandemic had developed into an annual program that benefits the community, especially the less fortunate.

The New Zealand Embassy is pleased to continue supporting New Zealand fruit and dairy export companies, which are providing nutritious and fresh products to help disadvantaged Vietnamese children and women. According to her, this small gesture demonstrates New Zealand's concern and commitment to improving the health of the Vietnamese people.
