According to Andrey Kaprin, Director General of the Center for Medical Radiology Research under the Russian Ministry of Health , Russia is developing an mRNA vaccine to combat cancer. This vaccine will be distributed free of charge to patients.
The vaccine was developed in collaboration with several research centers. Russia is expected to announce the vaccine in early 2025.

Earlier, Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Research, said that preclinical trials indicated the vaccine had the potential to inhibit tumor growth and reduce the risk of metastasis.
"During the preclinical trials, we found that the malignant tumor disappeared, and not only the tumor but also the metastasis disappeared. I do not rule out the possibility that we will bring more patients to participate in the fourth phase of the trial," Gintsburg told Russian media.
Gintsburg noted that this is a therapeutic vaccine, to be administered to people who have already been diagnosed with cancer. The vaccine is based on mRNA technology, which has already been used by pharmaceutical manufacturers Pfizer and Moderna to produce COVID-19 vaccines. Gintsburg said the new vaccine could be used for any type of cancer.
The director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology said plans are underway to begin testing the vaccine's effectiveness against various types of cancer, including lung, kidney, and pancreatic cancer. Cancer institutes are also expected to participate in the trials.
