Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on December 4 that there is currently no basis for negotiations on how to end the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Izvestia, quoting Peskov, several countries have offered to mediate the Russia-Ukraine peace talks, including Qatar. Peskov expressed gratitude to all these countries for their goodwill.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asserted that his country might have to temporarily cede some territories controlled by Russia in exchange for joining NATO and ending the conflict. In response to this development, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis stated on December 4th: "If we want peace in Ukraine, we will have to provide security guarantees. There is no cheaper way to guarantee security than Article 5 of NATO."

Regarding the conflict, President Zelensky on December 3rd called for a reinforcement of forces in eastern Ukraine along the 1,000-kilometer front line, where Russian troops have recently made significant advances. Zelensky emphasized that enhancing Ukraine's long-range strike capabilities, including boosting domestic arms production, is crucial to countering Russian attacks and protecting the lives of its soldiers. Zelensky's statement comes as Russia gains control of two more villages: Romanovka in Donetsk and Novodarovka in the Zaporozhie region, according to Reuters.
