The exhibition, themed " Hanoi and its Gates," was organized to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi on October 10th. This event aimed to recreate the heroic historical moments when the capital was officially liberated, ushering in a new era – an era of independence, freedom, and peace.
The event was organized by the National Archives Center I, the State Archives and Records Department, in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Interior Affairs and the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center. The exhibition took place in the courtyard of the Kinh Thien Palace – Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
The exhibition presented visitors with 200 documents and images, divided into three themes: Ancient City Gates, Victorious City Gates, and Hanoi's City Gates Today.
The theme "Ancient City Gates" will introduce the history of the formation of the city gates of Thang Long - Hanoi. In addition, visitors will gain a better understanding of the architecture, role, and changes of these city gates.
Under the influence of the French during the planning of Hanoi, the city gates were gradually destroyed. Among them, Quan Chuong Gate is the only remaining relic to this day.
Under the theme "Gateway of Victory," historical documents were displayed detailing the events of the Ho Chi Minh Army's troops and soldiers of the Capital Regiment advancing from various ancient gateways to take over Hanoi in 1954. Of particular note was the victory flag-raising ceremony at the Flagpole Stadium 70 years ago.
Finally, the exhibition "Hanoi's Gates Today" showcased the process of innovation and development over the 70 years since our people took over the capital city. The exhibition attracted a large number of domestic and international visitors.
The gates of Hanoi are not only witnesses to a turbulent period of history but also mark important milestones in the development of the capital city.
The exhibition "Hanoi and its Gates" will take place from October 7th to October 30th at the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center, 19C Hoang Dieu Street, Hanoi.
