To preserve the natural beauty of the Lagerstroemia population, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) together with functional forces and local authorities have increased patrolling, controlling, and preventing the digging of Lagerstroemia roots and trees originating from the forest.

This summer, on the coastal mountain slopes in Phuoc Dinh and Phuoc Diem communes, for the first time, wild Lagerstroemia trees with small trunks, many branches, growing on rocky mountains, bloomed in clusters, evenly at the same time, with a very beautiful flower structure typical of arid lands. Thereby, a population of Lagerstroemia trees showing off their brilliant purple color, covering the entire coastal mountain forest area, creating a very beautiful landscape, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists to gather on the national key tourist route Mui Dinh - Ca Na to admire the flowers, enjoy the fresh air, and regain energy after working days. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Truc in Ho Chi Minh City, shared: This summer, my family went to Ninh Thuan for sightseeing and relaxation. This is the first time I have traveled the coastal route of Mui Dinh - Ca Na. I am very impressed with the scenery here, especially the fresh air, cool wind and witnessing with my own eyes the purple flowers blooming in unison, showing off their beautiful purple color all over the mountains here, which is rare to find anywhere else.

It is known that, unlike the Lagerstroemia trees planted in urban areas, the wild Lagerstroemia trees only show off their bright, fresh, and captivating purple color when they grow naturally in the dry mountainous areas of Ninh Thuan province. When people dig up the roots of wild Lagerstroemia trees to plant in pots, the flowers bloom very little, losing their poetic purple beauty. Therefore, people promote their sense of responsibility for the community, join hands with functional forces and local authorities to prevent those who dig up forest trees, preserve and conserve the unique value of the Lagerstroemia tree population in the sunny and windy land of Ninh Thuan, associated with environmental protection, combating climate change and contributing to creating more unique products, enriching the type of ecotourism in Ninh Thuan.

Comrade Tran Ngoc Hieu added: In order to promptly manage and strictly protect the Lagerstroemia forests in the above-mentioned areas, contributing to the conservation of forest resources and the endemic forest ecosystem here, increasing forest cover, preventing erosion, and enhancing the aesthetics of the habitat along both sides of the coastal road in the two communes of Phuoc Dinh and Phuoc Diem and other areas in the province, in the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will direct the forest rangers, especially local forest rangers and specialized forest protection forces to proactively coordinate with functional agencies and local authorities to establish and be on duty 24/7 at mobile checkpoints to increase patrols and control in the areas along the coastal road and neighboring areas to promptly detect and handle cases of unauthorized entry into the forest to exploit ornamental plants originating from natural forests, especially wild Lagerstroemia. Continue to implement measures to prevent the exploitation, transportation, and trading of ornamental plants originating from natural forests; proactively coordinate to inspect and handle the exploitation of forest trees and digging of forest trees for ornamental plants in the Bai Da Trung area. At the same time, request the People's Committee of Thuan Nam district to pay attention to and support forest owners and forest rangers to organize propaganda, prevent and handle subjects entering the forest to dig up Lagerstroemia trees and trees originating from natural forests in the area. Direct the Thuan Nam Coastal Protection Forest Management Board to base on the forest protection plan and plan of the unit that contracts to assign forest protection to the community.
