According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of the remnants of Typhoon Tapah (which has dissipated), many areas in the North are experiencing heavy rain, with a high risk of flash floods and landslides.
Specifically, from the evening of September 9th to the night of September 10th, the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam will experience moderate to heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 50–100mm, and locally exceeding 200mm. There is a risk of heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm/3h.
Additionally, on the evening of September 9th, the Central and Southern highlands will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall ranging from 10-30mm, and locally exceeding 60mm.
On the evening and night of September 9th, other areas in Northern Vietnam experienced showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall amounts of 15-30mm, and locally over 70mm.
Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall amounts of 10-30mm, and locally over 70mm. There is a risk of heavy rainfall exceeding 60mm/3h.
According to meteorological agencies, heavy rainfall in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam will gradually decrease from September 11th.
In addition, the Northern Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station forecasts that, due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone combined with upper-level wind convergence, from the evening of September 9th to September 10th, Hanoi will experience showers and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rain accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind; the weather will be mild and cool, with the highest temperature generally ranging from 29-31 degrees Celsius; this will persist until September 12th.
The meteorological agency warns that the aforementioned areas are likely to experience tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. Localized heavy rainfall could cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas.
