House of gratitude to soldiers who helped Cambodian friends

Thời ĐạiThời Đại25/03/2025

On March 24th, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association of Bac Giang province donated 50 million VND to support the construction of a charitable house for Mr. Vu Van Phang, a veteran in difficult circumstances in Doi Ma village, Ngoc Thien commune (Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province). This is an acknowledgment and expression of gratitude from the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association to those who have contributed to fostering solidarity between the two nations.

In his dilapidated three-room house, built in 1982 with cracked plaster walls, Mr. Vu Van Phang (born in 1953) – a veteran and member of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association of Bac Giang province – quietly lives out his old age, burdened by poor health and mobility difficulties. Mr. Phang's family is considered to be in difficult circumstances. His house in Doi Ma village, Ngoc Thien commune (Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province) is now severely degraded and unsafe, especially with the approaching rainy and stormy season.

Given Mr. Phẳng's difficult circumstances, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association of Bac Giang province provided partial funding to help him rebuild his house. On March 24th, Mr. Le Van Hoan, Chairman of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association of Bac Giang province, handed over 50 million VND to support his family.

Delegates visited the construction site of Mr. Vu Van Phang's family home.

The house is planned to be built on an area of 75m², with brick walls, plastic ceiling, and corrugated iron roof, at a total cost of 350 million VND. In addition to support from the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association of Bac Giang province, the Bac Giang Provincial Veterans Association contributed 20 million VND, relatives contributed approximately 150 million VND, and the remaining amount was contributed by the family and local people through labor.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Mr. Le Van Hoan affirmed that this is not just a simple welfare support activity, but also a profound expression of gratitude to those who have contributed to fostering the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia. Veterans like Mr. Phẳng are living proof of noble international sentiment, serving as a bridge to strengthen the traditional solidarity between the two countries.

The model of supporting the construction of charitable houses for members is one of the practical activities that the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association at all levels has maintained for many years. Not only does it help members in difficult circumstances stabilize their lives, but these charitable houses also carry a humane message about the moral principle of "remembering the source when drinking water" and "comradeship and solidarity."
