Nhan Chinh Quoc: From early glory to the depths of sin
Yan Zhengguo entered the entertainment industry at the age of 5 and quickly became a familiar face through many works by the renowned director Hou Hsiao-Hsien. In 1986, the film series "Good Boy" propelled him to stardom, making him a sought-after child prodigy with a salary that was once "enough to buy a house."
However, the early fame also brought tragedy. Dropping out of school, being bullied because of his popularity, and associating with unsavory characters for self-defense pushed him down a path of depravity. Yan Zhengguo's life quickly descended into vice, leading to a series of involvements with drugs, guns, and culminating in the shocking kidnapping and extortion case in 2001. He faced the death penalty before his sentence was reduced to 15 years in prison.

The pain awakened after the father's death.
The turning point in Yan Zhengguo's life was the death of his father. The overwhelming pain and shame of having to wear handcuffs and shackles to his father's funeral awakened him, forcing him to reflect and resolve to repent. He fasted for a year and found peace and goodness through practicing calligraphy.

After serving his 11-year prison sentence in March 2012, Yan Zhengguo became a calligrapher and returned to acting.

After his release from prison in March 2012, Yan Zhengguo became a calligrapher and returned to film, not only as an actor but also as a director. His film, "The Horned Man," was a box office success, grossing a record-breaking 127 million New Taiwan Dollars (over 100 billion Vietnamese Dong), a testament to his powerful comeback. Through his own life story, Yan Zhengguo frequently visited schools and prisons to share his experiences and encourage young people to cherish life and family. His passing is a great loss, but his legacy of resilience and his journey of overcoming adversity, even after the deepest falls, will endure.
