The US-China trade tension continues to have new notable developments, as officials from both sides have just announced that they will resume negotiations this week in Malaysia.
This information helped the US stock market recover positively in the trading session last weekend and will continue to be the focus of investors in the new trading week.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he had a frank and detailed online discussion with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng on Friday evening (October 17). The two sides are expected to meet in person this week in Malaysia.
The Chinese side also described the two sides as having candid and constructive exchanges, and agreed to hold a round of direct negotiations as soon as possible.
US President Donald Trump also said that a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping could still take place at the end of the month. This statement eased concerns about the risk of escalating trade tensions and helped US stocks gain, ending last trading week in the green.
