On the evening of July 6th, Mr. Nguyen Nho Khiem, Chairman of the Da Nang Union of Literature and Arts Associations, confirmed to Thanh Nien newspaper that musician Nguyen Duy Khoai had passed away after a period of illness. The passing of this talented musician, born in 1953, has left many friends and acquaintances deeply saddened.
Composer Nguyen Duy Khoai began his songwriting career in the student movement in Hue City at the age of 18 with his first song, "In the Bomb Rain, the Sun Will Come." After liberation, Nguyen Duy Khoai graduated from Hue University of Music and then moved with his family to Da Nang.

According to musician Van Thu Bich, from his first song to the present day, he has composed more than 100 songs. He has written about many regions of the country, such as: "Longing for Hue ," "My Hometown Stone," "Love Song of the City," "Nostalgia for Ba Na" (set to a poem by Phan Xuan Hiep), " Da Lat in the Dreamy Afternoon ." Particularly noteworthy are the series of songs about place names in Central Vietnam, such as: "Preserving the Fragrance of Tra My Land," "Duy Xuyen - Returning to the Land of Love," "Telling the Story of Phuoc Son," "Tien Phuoc, a Lush Green Countryside," "Dien Ban, Like My Mother's Homeland," etc.
"He has many 'local songs' with unique and diverse characteristics, ranging from the vibrant and heroic nature of the songs of the Da Nang Student Union movement to the deeply contemplative songs of peacetime in each part of his homeland, including Da Nang - his second home, where he has lived and diligently composed for over 50 years, becoming the musician Nguyen Duy Khoai of today with many contributions to the field of music ," musician Van Thu Bich assessed.

Mr. Nguyen Nho Khiem, Chairman of the Da Nang Union of Literature and Arts Associations, added that the Nguyen Duy Khoai - When the Heart Remains Red concert, held on the evening of July 2nd, served as a consolation for the musician and his family during his serious illness.
The concert, organized by the Da Nang Music Association, the Da Nang branch of the Vietnam Musicians Association, and the family and friends of musician Nguyen Duy Khoai, also aimed to acknowledge and express gratitude for the musician's musical achievements over the past 50 years.
