SEA Games 33 Diary, December 10th: Tran Hung Nguyen wins his 4th title.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The first day of competition at the 33rd SEA Games was full of excitement, with the Vietnamese sports delegation winning 3 gold medals in swimming, canoeing, and taekwondo.

Gold medals (2): Diep Thi Huong - Nguyen Thi Huong (Canoeing - Women's double sculls 500m), Le Tran Kim Uyen, Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Tran Dang Khoa, Tran Ho Duy, Nguyen Thi Y Binh, Nguyen Phan Khanh Han (Taekwondo - Mixed team creative poomsae).

Silver medals (2): Nguyen Thi Kim Ha - Nguyen Trong Phuc (taekwondo - mixed doubles standard), Phung Mui Nhinh (Jujitsu - women's 52kg sparring).

Bronze medals (8): Phung Thi Hong Ngoc, Nguyen Ngoc Bich (Jujitsu - Women's Duo Show), Dang Dinh Tung (Jujitsu - Men's 77kg sparring), Tran Huu Tuan - To Anh Minh (Jujitsu - Men's Duo Show), Sai Cong Nguyen - Nguyen Anh Tung (Jujitsu - Men's Duo Show), Dao Hong Son (Jujitsu - Men's 62kg sparring), Nguyen Thi Kim Ha, Le Ngoc Han, Le Tran Kim Uyen (Taekwondo - Women's Team Standard Poomsae), Bao Khoa, Dao Thien Hai, Vo Thanh Ninh and Vu Hoang Gia Bao (Maruk Chess - Team Blitz Chess), Pham Hong Quan (Canoeing - Men's 500m Single Boat).

On December 10th, 32 sets of medals were awarded, and Vietnamese sports have reason to be hopeful in many important disciplines.

Canoeing promises a brilliant performance from Nguyen Thi Huong, who will compete in two events: the women's 500m, a sport she has dominated in Southeast Asia. Nguyen Thi Huong also made an appearance and left her mark at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Taekwondo enters 6 finals starting at 2 PM, where Vietnamese sports remain the top contender despite strong competition from host country Thailand.

Swimming featured qualifying rounds in the morning and finals at 6 PM, highlighted by Tran Hung Nguyen in the men's 200m individual medley and other hopefuls such as Jeremie Luong and Nguyen Quang Thuan.

Jujitsu placed high hopes on Dao Hong Son to make his mark in the men's 62kg category. In addition, Vietnamese sports added medals in petanque, mountain biking, and qualifying events in badminton, chess, and esports.
