The University of Health Sciences (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) recently announced the appointment of heads and deputy heads of departments, including nearly 30 directors, deputy directors, research institute directors, and former leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health .
They will be responsible for departments within the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Health Sciences .
These are the new personnel among approximately 80 heads and deputy heads of departments across 5 faculties: medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, traditional medicine, and nursing, who have been assigned their duties.
Associate Professor Vu Hai Quan, Director of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City and Rector of the University of Health Sciences, stated that the university has a high-quality workforce thanks to the selection of talented and dedicated doctors who are leaders of major hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City to work closely with the university in fulfilling its mission of training medical personnel.
"As the Director of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, I am very grateful for the trust, dedication, and talent of the esteemed professors and lecturers to the University of Health Sciences. Associate Professor, Doctor Le Dinh Thanh, Director of Thong Nhat Hospital, representing the assigned personnel, expressed his confidence in the university.
Mr. Thanh stated that he will strive to fulfill his assigned duties well, contributing to the school's efforts in training and scientific research, thereby creating a high-quality healthcare workforce for the country.

Which hospital directors have joined the University of Health Sciences?
One example is Associate Professor, Doctor Le Dinh Thanh, Director of Thong Nhat Hospital and concurrently Deputy Head of the Internal Medicine Department (Faculty of Medicine).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Director of Children's Hospital 1, also serves as Head of the Pediatrics Department (Faculty of Medicine).
Dr. Nguyen Thi Phan Thuy, Director of the Dermatology Hospital, also serves as the head of the dermatology department (Faculty of Medicine).
Dr. Nguyen Huu Lan, Director of Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital, also serves as the head of the Department of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (Faculty of Medicine).
Dr. Nguyen Dang Khoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Psychiatric Hospital, also serves as the head of the Department of Mental Health (Faculty of Medicine).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Vinh Hung, Director of Binh Dan Hospital, also serves as Deputy Head of the Department of Surgery (Faculty of Medicine).
Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai, Director of Tu Du Hospital, also serves as the Deputy Head of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Health.
Associate Professor, Doctor Hoang Thi Diem Tuyet, Director of Hung Vuong Hospital, also serves as Deputy Head of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Health.
Dr. Nguyen Duc Minh, MD, MSc, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital, is the head of the Clinical Department of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery 1 (Department of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery).
Dr. Do Tan Khoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Medicine Hospital, is in charge of the acupuncture department (Faculty of Traditional Medicine).
The organizational structure has been finalized.
The University of Health Sciences was established in June 2024, based on the development of the medical faculty of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. After 6 months of operation, the university has completed its organizational structure, established its Party Committee; the University Council; and the Board of Directors.
Currently, the school has 7 functional departments, 5 faculties, and 3 affiliated centers. The number of permanent staff is 282, including 5 professors and associate professors, 31 PhDs (including Level II specialist doctors), and 137 masters.
