Having been in commercial operation for three months, Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien has benefited many businesses in the F&B ( food and beverage ) sector by attracting a large number of passengers traveling on the metro.

Located just a few steps from Ben Thanh metro station (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), Mr. HK (owner of a coffee shop in District 1) said that his shop had been operating before the metro station became operational, but its revenue has increased significantly since the metro officially opened.
"Currently, the F&B industry is facing general difficulties, but since the metro started operating, the space is more open and the location is more convenient, so more tourists and people who want to experience the metro come here. As a result, revenue is much higher than the same period last year," Mr. K. said.
Customers choose restaurants and cafes near the metro station because of their convenience.
Mr. Le Hoang Hieu (residing in Thu Duc City) shared that since the metro line connecting Thu Duc City to the city center in District 1 was completed in just 15-20 minutes, he has always chosen cafes or restaurants within a radius of about 500 meters.
"I usually choose to meet up with friends at cafes or restaurants near metro stations. It saves not only time and money but also effort when commuting," Hieu shared.
Because metro tickets are cheap, averaging under 10,000 VND per trip, many people have gradually become accustomed to traveling by metro. As a result, not only coffee shops but also many pubs have recorded significant growth.
People have been choosing pubs near metro lines after work, especially since Decree No. 168/2024 was issued.
Accordingly, rush hour from approximately 6:30 to 8:30 PM is the peak time, and the number of customers at stores along the metro line increases significantly on Saturdays and Sundays.
Mr. Cao Chuc Quyen (manager of a restaurant in Thao Dien ward, Thu Duc City) said that the metro line has significantly contributed to the number of customers at his restaurant, including many customers who, even though they live in District 1, take the metro to Thao Dien to eat and return to District 1 according to the metro's operating hours.
Similarly, Mr. Le Nhu Y (a sales employee at Vincom Thao Dien) said that the number of customers coming to experience the service has increased by up to 30% compared to before thanks to the metro line.
"Many people are stepping off the metro, going to the shops to experience and shop, and using the services in the shopping mall because transportation is more convenient than before," Mr. Ý said.
Managers and owners of shops along the metro line believe the F&B industry can benefit from the metro lines, particularly fast food and beverage businesses.
Restaurants and shops welcome international customers thanks to the metro.

Mr. Ton That Hung, owner of a broken rice restaurant in Thao Dien ward (Thu Duc City), shared that although his restaurant already has a fixed base of regular customers, thanks to the metro line, it has attracted many new customer segments, including international tourists.
Lucas Moreau (35 years old), a French tourist, believes that the food and beverage outlets at metro stations are particularly convenient for foreign tourists who are not very familiar with local restaurants and shops.
"I feel that the F&B model around train stations makes it easy for me to experience the culture of each city I travel through without spending too much time," said Moreau.
However, the F&B sectors along the metro lines still don't offer many choices for customers using services at metro stations in general, or for tourists experiencing the area in particular.
