The team from the University of Technology presented their project on a nursing robot integrating AIoT and autonomous navigation.
On October 12th, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (VNU-HCM) held the final round of the Bach Khoa Innovation 2024 (BKI) competition, with teams from the start-up, student, and high school categories competing.
In this morning's competition, the teams went through two rounds: a presentation round to select the 6 most impressive teams in each group to advance to the final round.
In the student category, the finalists were teams with the following projects: A nursing robot integrated with AIoT and autonomous navigation; a water-grilled coffee project; a project transforming durian peels into environmentally friendly materials; a project recycling banana tree trunks into biodegradable tools; a multi-functional automotive diagnostic tool project; and a chicken and lime leaf flavored diet salt project.
The judging panel evaluated the entries based on criteria including the problem/solution, market opportunity, market access strategy, business and financial model, team and mentors, and presentation.
The AIoT-integrated nursing robot project with autonomous navigation by students from the University of Technology won first prize, receiving a reward of 30 million VND, 1,000 USD, and a support package.
Two second prizes were awarded to the "hydro-grilled coffee" project and the project that transforms durian peels into environmentally friendly materials.
The two third-place winners were a project on recycling banana tree trunks into biodegradable tools and a project on a multi-functional automotive diagnostic tool.

The Bach Khoa Innovation 2024 competition continues to affirm its position as a dynamic and professional academic platform for individuals and organizations passionate about scientific research and innovation, attracting 91 participating teams. Of these, the university category had 59 teams, the high school category had 20 teams, and notably, the start-up category showed many positive signs in its first year with 12 participating teams.
Within the framework of the competition, the Polytechnic University announced its strategic plan for the Polytechnic Innovation Competition for the period 2025-2030.
The vision of Bach Khoa Innovation for the period 2025-2030 is to become the leading innovation and startup competition in Southeast Asia. Regarding the competition categories, in addition to start-up, student, and school student categories, the competition is expected to include categories related to businesses.
