Over the years, the movement "Farmers excelling in production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has spread widely to every farmers' association branch in Lao Cai province. Each year, approximately 60% of member households register to participate in the emulation campaign.
To date, the province has more than 55,000 households that have achieved the title of excellent producers and business operators at various levels, including more than 100 households at the central level and more than 1,200 households at the provincial level.

Many economic models generate incomes ranging from hundreds of millions to billions of dong annually, while also creating stable jobs for thousands of rural workers. These results not only improve material living standards but also instill confidence and motivation in farmers to continue innovating and creating in production.

Mr. Nguyen The Truong, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Bao Thang commune, shared: "The emulation movement to celebrate this year's congress has created a new momentum. The number of households registering for excellent production and business has increased sharply. Farmers' association members have proactively applied scientific and technical advancements, changed their production mindset, and shifted from small-scale models to integrated chain models. The competitive atmosphere has made people more enthusiastic and bolder in adopting modern technical processes to improve the quality of agricultural products."

The spirit of solidarity and mutual support within the community has also been strongly promoted, becoming an important resource contributing to the effectiveness of emulation movements. In many localities, successful producers help poor and disadvantaged households with capital, materials, labor, and technical expertise. To date, more than 580 households have received support, many of whom have subsequently escaped poverty and become exemplary models in economic development. The movement not only promotes production but also spreads the spirit of solidarity, creating a broad community strength.

The emulation movement is also closely linked to the new rural development program, creating momentum to encourage localities to improve infrastructure, enhance the quality of life for people, and promote the role of the community as the main actors in socio-economic development. Practical actions such as donating land for roads, contributing labor, building sanitation facilities, and improving the landscape have helped to significantly change the appearance of rural Lao Cai.
During the period 2023-2025, farmer association members throughout the province contributed nearly 5 billion VND, over 310,000 man-days of labor, donated more than 525,000 square meters of land, and implemented thousands of small but meaningful projects. Bright, green, clean, and beautiful roads, waste collection models, hygienic toilets, and farmer-managed roads are all results of the farmers' spirit of labor and production emulation.

In Gia Phu commune, the emulation movement has spread strongly throughout the farming community. The commune has nearly 3,600 farmer members and 17 professional groups and associations. These groups and associations not only serve as places for exchanging knowledge and experience but also help households to link up, develop production, and create stable markets for their products. As a result, the movement contributes to economic restructuring and promotes commodity production. The average income per unit of cultivated land reaches 140 million VND/ha.

Many farming families in the province participated in the emulation campaign in a very specific and practical way. A typical example is the family of Ms. Trang Thi Ganh in La Gi Thang village, Lung Phinh commune. Ms. Ganh shared: "My family and I participated in the emulation campaign to welcome the congress, so we tried our best to take care of our fruit orchards and medicinal herb hills, develop livestock farming, maintain cleanliness in the village roads and alleys, and beautify the landscape for tourists to visit. Making our own family richer also contributes to beautifying the commune."
Like Mrs. Ganh, many other households don't view competition as just a slogan, but as concrete actions taken every day.

In Bac Ha, the famous white plateau region, the emulation movement has created an even more vibrant atmosphere. People are converting inefficient farming areas to cultivate temperate fruit trees such as plums, pears, and peaches... This has led to the formation of large-scale, concentrated commodity production areas, creating high economic value and making a practical contribution to income growth and sustainable development of the locality.

On the slopes of Na Áng hill, the fruit orchard model of Mr. Thèn Văn Tuấn's family is a concrete example. On an area of more than 3 hectares planted with Tam Hoa plums, early-ripening Tả Van plums, and crunchy persimmons, Mr. Tuấn applies a comprehensive set of technical measures such as pruning, organic fertilization, maintaining soil moisture, and intercropping vegetables under the trees.
Mr. Tuan said: "To compete in labor, production, and wealth creation, I expanded the area of early-ripening Ta Van plums because the soil is very suitable. It's not just me; the people in the commune are also competing, so everyone is trying to take care of fruit trees, grow vegetables, create clean and beautiful gardens, increase income, and serve tourism."

The emulation movement has also encouraged many households to adopt techniques to improve productivity. Ms. Trang Thi Lan, from Na Hoi Tay village, Bac Ha commune, shared: "The emulation movement has made people pay more attention to caring for, pruning, and thinning plum and pear trees so that the yield will be higher next year. Many orchards have become tourist attractions every flowering season and fruit ripening season."

According to Mr. Phung Duc Toan, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Bac Ha commune, the emulation movement has created a strong impetus for expanding the area of temperate fruit trees. The commune is orienting towards developing more fruit varieties, such as pears and early-ripening Ta Van plums, to diversify products, spread out the harvest season, and attract tourists. The people have responded positively, clearly demonstrating a spirit of emulation in labor and production.

In Ban Lau commune, a famous tea, pineapple, and banana growing area in Lao Cai province, a spirit of competitive labor and production permeates the hillsides and mountain slopes. According to Mr. Le Thanh Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Ban Lau Commune People's Committee, the locality has reorganized production and increased linkages between farmers and businesses to improve product quality. The emulation movement is closely linked to encouraging farmer members to participate in cooperatives and associations to organize production and product consumption along the value chain. Thanks to strict adherence to technical procedures and ensuring quality standards, agricultural products are well-received by the market at higher prices, creating clear and sustainable economic benefits for the people.

Looking back at the emulation movement of farmers in Lao Cai over the past period, it is clear that the spirit of competition leading up to the congress has spread widely. Concrete roads, fruit orchards, commercial tea plantations, large-scale vegetable fields… are the results of this labor and production movement. The movement has created confidence, enthusiasm, and a spirit of innovation in each farmer, helping them to be more daring in investing, collaborating, innovating, and applying science and technology.

With the achievements made and the strong competitive spirit spreading, farmers in Lao Cai are writing new chapters for modern, green, and sustainable agriculture, while making practical contributions to the success of the Farmers' Association Congress at all levels. These achievements not only enrich individual families but also contribute to changing the face of rural areas, improving community life, and affirming the important role of farmers in the socio-economic development of the province.
