Father holding 2-month-old baby receives appointment as Associate Professor

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - During the professorship and associate professorship appointment ceremony at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Dr. Le Thanh Long received his appointment decision along with his wife and 2-month-old child.
On the afternoon of January 11th, the University of Technology (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) held a ceremony to honor and appoint professors and associate professors for the year 2023.

During the appointment ceremony, the image of Dr. Le Thanh Long, who had met the criteria for the title of Associate Professor, receiving his appointment decision with his wife holding their newborn child, brought joy to many, sharing in the happiness of the young family. Dr. Le Thanh Long shared that the baby is only two months old and is the couple's first child. Coincidentally, the baby's birth coincided with Dr. Long's inclusion in the list of the State Council of Professors recognizing him as having met the criteria for the title of Associate Professor. For the young father, the title of Associate Professor at the age of 35 is like a gift with spiritual significance, welcoming his child. Just a few days ago, Dr. Long was also recognized as one of the 14 outstanding young citizens of Ho Chi Minh City in 2023.

Dr. Le Thanh Long, born in 1988, hails from Tinh Tho commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province. He won first prize in the field of mechanical engineering and was recognized as an outstanding Vietnamese scientist in Taiwan in 2016. In 2022, Dr. Le Thanh Long received the Golden Globe Award for Science and Technology. To date, Dr. Long has published 35 scientific articles in prestigious international scientific conferences; 16 scientific articles have been published in domestic scientific journals; he has led one national-level project (Nafostes) and one project at the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology level, one project at the National University level; and two projects at the institutional level have been successfully completed. In 2022-2023, Dr. Long had 5 institutional-level initiatives recognized; and successfully completed a scientific research project at the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology level with the product "Negative Pressure Chamber". This product has practical significance in contributing to disease prevention and control, protecting health, and raising community awareness. Besides his role as a lecturer, Dr. Long also serves as the Head of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Club at the university, participating in many social activities. Between teaching, research, social activities, and having a child, Dr. Long admits... "being a father for the first time is the hardest thing." He learned to breastfeed, change diapers, bathe his child, and read many books on parenting. "Becoming a father reminds me that I must try harder in raising my child, taking care of my family, and being more responsible to my work and the community," Dr. Le Thanh Long shared. In 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology had 13 faculty members who met the standards for Professor and Associate Professor. Of these, only one was recognized as a Professor: Professor Dr. Nguyen Huu Loc, born in 1964, from the Department of Machine Design, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Loc has 28 scientific articles in prestigious international journals (SCIE/Scopus), and has published 17 textbooks and books under the Ho Chi Minh City National University Publishing House. He participated in and edited 3 books on building and developing training programs using the CDIO approach, and has 8 papers presented at international and domestic conferences on CDIO. The youngest person appointed as Associate Professor at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in 2023 was Dr. Lai Van Qui, born in 1989, from the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Dr. Lai Van Qui has published 57 ISI/Scopus articles and 11 domestic articles.
