Long An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Duoc was assigned as Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

On the afternoon of February 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a conference to announce and present the Politburo 's decision on personnel work.

Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen presented the decision and flowers to congratulate Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, announced the Politburo 's decision on the transfer, appointment and assignment of Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Secretary of the Long An Provincial Party Committee, to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee also decided to appoint Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Previously, on February 18, Mr. Phan Van Mai, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee was elected as a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee and Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee.

Currently, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee includes Secretary Nguyen Van Nen and 4 deputy secretaries: Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi (standing member), Ms. Nguyen Thi Le (Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council), Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc (Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee) and Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc was born in 1968, his hometown is Long An province. He has a master's degree in geology, a bachelor's degree in geology, and a senior degree in political theory. Since 1993, he has worked at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long An province. In 2010, he became the director of this department.

In 2013, Mr. Duoc became Secretary of Tan Thanh District Party Committee, then joined the Provincial Party Standing Committee and held the position of Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee.

Since 2016, he has been Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and then Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Long An Provincial Party Committee. In 2020, he was elected Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Council and elected a member of the Party Central Committee at the 13th Party Congress.
