(CLO) US President-elect Donald Trump's transition team has prepared executive orders to withdraw from the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, to allow more drilling and mining.

According to a report by the New York Times on November 8, Mr. Trump also plans to grant licenses for the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to major markets in Asia and Europe, and revoke orders allowing California and other states to have stricter pollution standards.

Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for Mr Trump's transition team, said the results of the November 5 election gave him "the authority to deliver on the promises he made during the campaign. He will deliver."

During his campaign, Mr. Trump promised to take many of the actions listed, including cutting climate regulations to help the U.S. auto industry, and pledging to increase fossil fuel production.

He has vowed to increase oil drilling and mineral extraction from his first day in office instead of supporting renewable energy sources, as well as cutting climate subsidies from the Biden administration and cutting taxes for oil, gas and coal producers.

Some on Mr. Trump’s transition team are also discussing moving the Environmental Protection Agency headquarters out of Washington.

In January, the Biden administration paused new LNG export permits pending a study of the economic and environmental impacts of exports. The DOE will release an updated draft analysis for public comment 60 days before the end of the year.
