At 2:00 p.m. today (June 17), Saigon University Practice Primary School began issuing application documents for first grade admission, but since last afternoon and night, hundreds of parents have been there waiting.

Ms. Phuong Mai said that she heard that people were lining up to buy application forms since the afternoon, so at 9:00 p.m. on June 16, she ran to the school gate to "reserve a spot".

"When I arrived, there were dozens of people already there. I heard from the first people that they had come since 4pm to wait," said Ms. Phuong Mai.

Present here since 10pm, Ms. Thanh Lam (District 4) said that when she arrived, there were about 40-50 people at the school gate, she "quickly" got a number early.

Ms. Lam said that last night, everyone slept on the roadside to wait. Many people brought mats, blankets, pillows, mosquito repellent...

"Since yesterday, many people have been sleeping at the school. I and many others had to ask family members to bring us food and water. We were tired but no one wanted to move, only worried that if we moved, we would lose our position. The school only opened the application form sale at 2 p.m., so we had to wait more than 20 hours to buy the application form," Lam said.

At 4am on June 17, Ms. Tuyet Nhung (District 5) was surprised because the number of parents who came was very large, about 100 people.

After arriving, Ms. Nhung was given a notebook by another parent to write down the child's name and the parent's name in order.

"I thought that since the application form would be distributed at 2 p.m., it would be appropriate to come early in the morning. I didn't expect many people to have lined up since the night before. The good thing is that the school opened the gate early for parents to enter, and there were seats available. Everyone lined up in a civilized manner, without jostling," said Ms. Nhung.

In the morning, the guard opened the gate for parents who had registered on the list to enter the school hallway to continue waiting.

Parents must bring their ID and child's birth certificate to be allowed entry.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Saigon University Practice Primary School will enroll 150 students, a decrease of 25 students, equivalent to nearly 15% compared to the previous school year.

The admission target is children 6 years old and born in 2018. The school considers accepting children whose father or mother is a civil servant or employee currently working at Saigon University.

Next, the school will consider giving priority to children of individuals and organizations that have cooperated and contributed to the school's development.

The third group is children whose father or mother is a public official or civil servant. Preschool children belong to the remaining group.

The admission form is that parents directly receive the application form at the school and the school considers the application based on the application.

The application period starts from 2:00 p.m. on June 17 until all applications are released. Parents need to bring their child's birth certificate and the father or mother's ID card for verification.

Parents submit application from June 19 to June 20; Admission results will be announced on July 1.

Saigon Practical Primary School follows the model of an advanced, internationally integrated school, with 2 main school sessions per day and enrolling in integrated classes. Tuition will be collected according to the regulations of an advanced, integrated school.

Because the number of applications is limited, in recent years, parents have often had to line up early to get a set of application documents.

Saigon University Practical Primary School was established and enrolled by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in May 2019.

This is a publiceducational and training institution, with legal status, using its own seal, and opening accounts at the State Treasury and Banks in accordance with the law.

This educational institution is affiliated with Saigon University. The school will be organized and operated in compliance with current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training in the Charter of Primary Schools. The school is under the direct direction and management of Saigon University, and under the professional and technical supervision of the Department of Education and Training of District 3, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, etc.

The school's headquarters is located at 20 Ngo Thoi Nhiem Street, Ward 7, District 3, HCMC.

In the 2019-2020 school year, the school enrolled the first class of 175 first graders, with a maximum of 35 students per class.
