According to GadgetMatch , PlayStation has been in a constant state of flux since the launch of its current generation of consoles. In addition to the PlayStation 5, the company has also been working on several successful franchises. Now, fans are about to welcome many new franchises in the near future.

Accordingly, Sony recently held a business presentation about the future of PlayStation. Although there was not much to share about hardware, the company presented upcoming plans for their game titles.

A notable detail in the announcement is that the company predicts that fiscal year 2025 will see a 50-50 split between new and existing franchises. Previously, in fiscal year 2019, the company had an uneven split, with only 20% of its development capacity focused on building new games. This split eventually increased to 40% in fiscal year 2023.

At the time, this uneven split was intended to focus more on PlayStation 5 hardware. Now that the console space has stabilized, Sony sees more value in building new gaming brands for the future.

Notably, Sony also predicts that the live services market will grow even more. The presentation predicts a 60-40 split between live services and traditional games, with the lion's share going to live services. Sony is said to be working on 12 live service games at the moment.

In contrast to the traditional game archetype, live service games are a genre of games where developers continuously push out additional content after launch.
