The Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2024, themed "Hanoi Delicacies," attracted approximately 100 participating units, including travel agencies, craft villages, food establishments , and many experiential spaces. At the festival, locals and tourists could enjoy many delicious Hanoi specialties such as sticky rice flakes, rice rolls, pho rolls, peanut candy, sweet soup, spring rolls, lotus jam, etc., or participate in activities such as making bamboo dragonflies, creating artistic flowers, and recycling. This year, the festival welcomed around 20,000 visitors.
Introducing Hanoi's specialty green rice flakes at the festival, Ms. Vu Thi Phuc (from Moc Lam green rice flake establishment) said: "We want to spread the word about green rice flakes – a characteristic Hanoi delicacy – to young people and tourists, so that everyone remembers Hanoi's autumn and the aroma of green rice flakes from the past. This year's festival features stir-fried green rice flakes, sticky rice with green rice flakes, fresh green rice flakes, etc., designed as gifts that are both distinctly Hanoian and beautifully presented for people to buy as souvenirs."
At the festival, travel companies also offer many "gifts" to visitors in the form of promotions and tour deals, launching tours to South Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, Singapore - Malaysia... at discounted prices, along with opportunities for special price reductions.
"This year, distant destinations are experiencing high prices due to increased airfare and on-site service costs, while purchasing power has decreased. Therefore, at the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2024, we mainly advise on nearby travel routes such as Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia... with reasonable prices, suitable for the general needs of Hanoi customers," said a travel company director.
Traditional craft villages and creative design units are also contributing to the capital's tourism industry, working together to spread traditional culture and create a positive impression of Hanoi in the hearts of tourists.
The sales director of another travel company shared: "We brought many gift products to the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival, specially designed for tourists. These products are characterized by their compact size, relevance to the culture and history of Hanoi and Vietnam, and environmentally friendly materials. Instead of products from other localities, Hanoi also has many beautiful and exquisite products, such as carved lacquer paintings, paper paintings, paper bags... all of which are popular with tourists."
In addition, experiential activities at 4-star and 5-star hotels in Hanoi are also attracting the attention of locals and tourists; in response to the tourism stimulus program of the Hanoi Department of Tourism and in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi (October 10, 2024).
Programs such as culinary experiences, painting classes, and mooncake-making workshops have encouraged tourists and locals to visit hotels in the capital, viewing them as experiential destinations or places for rest and relaxation, rather than simply thinking of hotels as places to sleep.
Participating in a recent DIY postcard making program, Minh Huyen (Cau Giay district, Hanoi) believes that on weekends, many people living in Hanoi have a need for "staycation" or seek relaxing experiences to improve their mood.
"Although I've lived in Hanoi for quite a while, I haven't had the chance to explore 4-5 star hotels in the city center. Perhaps these hotels need more experiential activities like painting and baking... This hotel, for example, has a beautiful location overlooking Ho Guom Lake. When they organized a postcard-making program, it attracted me and everyone else to participate, especially in the relaxing atmosphere and the pleasant autumn weather," Minh Huyen shared.
Accordingly, creative art programs such as making postcards featuring Vietnamese landscapes have helped the hotel stimulate demand and encourage tourists and Hanoi residents to use its services. Towards the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi, the hotel is implementing a policy of early check-in at 10:00 AM and late check-out at 2:00 PM, giving guests more time to experience Hanoi and enjoy the surroundings of Hoan Kiem Lake.
It can be seen that, through programs initiated by the Hanoi Department of Tourism such as stimulating demand, experiencing luxury hotels, or the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2024, the direction of the management agency and the connection of relevant units in the industry such as hotels, travel agencies, restaurants, craft villages, gift businesses, etc., will help Hanoi become an increasingly attractive destination with diverse services, activities and experiences.
