In an interview with Romania's Digi 24 TV channel, Mircea Geoana noted: "Technology in general will continue to develop exponentially this year, including AI... AI will create temptations... to abuse these tools to interfere with our democratic system, we are extremely vigilant, extremely careful and cooperate with other countries and Europe."

In addition, Mr. Geoana also named Russia among the countries that could be accused of abusing AI technology to interfere in elections without providing any evidence.

He noted that 2024 will be one of the most difficult periods in recent decades.
