This event marks the opening of a series of activities introducing Son La's specialties at Saigon Co.op's 800 nationwide retail outlets, running from May 24th to June 1st. This also signifies Saigon Co.op's first trade connection with the Northwest provinces, aiming to bring these local specialties to all parts of the country through its 800 retail locations. During the week-long promotion of Son La plums and agricultural products, Saigon Co.op expects to sell 100 tons of plums harvested from the Moc Chau and Yen Chau districts. Son La plums are sold through a system that meets food safety standards, VietGAP standards, and has certification from competent authorities regarding origin. The price of Son La plums is maintained at a stable and competitive rate compared to the market by Co.opmart and Co.opXtra. Co.opmart and Co.opXtra are running a promotion to bring the price of plums down to only 29,900 VND/kg, valid from May 24th to June 1st. Besides dedicating prime locations to Son La agricultural products, Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets are offering customers the opportunity to sample the product or processed plum products: plum jam, dried plums, dried plums, plum syrup, etc. On the first day of the program (May 24th), over 10 tons of Son La plums were sold by Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, etc. Customers highly appreciate Son La plums for their sweetness, crispness, aroma, and bright red color, true to the standards of plums from the Northwest mountainous region. This is the result of the meticulous preparation process from warehousing, transportation, preservation, and distribution that Saigon Co.op has undertaken for Vietnamese agricultural products in general, and Son La plums in particular.

On this occasion, Co.opmart and Co.opXtra also introduced agricultural products and OCOP (One Commune One Product) items from Son La such as: longan, yellow passion fruit, coffee, tea, dried longan, black garlic, vermicelli, smoked buffalo/pork, cham cheo (a type of dipping sauce), dried bamboo shoots, reishi mushrooms, etc. Expanding the supply to the Northwest provinces helps to diversify the goods in Saigon Co.op's system, ensuring a sustainable supply and competitive prices so that mountainous specialties can reach customers more easily. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province said: "Bringing Son La plums into Saigon Co.op's nationwide distribution system is a very important channel for the product to reach consumers across the country, enhancing its value and positioning the Son La plum brand. This is also the most concrete manifestation of the cooperation between Son La province and Saigon Co.op." Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc – General Director of Saigon Co.op – said: "The percentage of Vietnamese goods in Saigon Co.op's distribution systems always reaches over 90%, including more than 1,000 OCOP products from businesses and cooperatives nationwide. The company always supports and is ready to cooperate with agricultural , industrial, and handicraft production facilities to create opportunities for brand promotion, market expansion, and business development. Saigon Co.op is always a pioneer in stabilizing market prices; it is a bridge bringing high-quality Vietnamese goods, OCOP products, and local specialties to consumers nationwide. Introducing Son La plums into Saigon Co.op's nationwide distribution system is a close collaboration between distributors, producers, and local authorities, practically realizing the goal of bringing Vietnamese agricultural products further afield." Saigon Co.op continues to organize similar festivals to support Vietnamese agricultural products and enhance the customer experience when visiting and shopping at Co.opmart and Co.opXtra.
