TPO – Following a campaign to clean up streets, fallen trees after Typhoon No. 3 have been largely cleared. Districts are continuing with plans to replant trees.
According to Tien Phong reporter's report on September 17, the main streets of Hanoi in the inner city districts have basically finished clearing fallen trees. |
On Lo Duc Street (Pham Dinh Ho Ward, Hai Ba Trung District), the street has become clean and tidy again. |
This place is famous for its hundreds of years old Black Star trees. Storm No. 3 broke some Black Star trees on Lo Duc Street. By September 15, they were repaired. |
Next to that, Hang Chuoi street has also been cleaned up, although there were many fallen trees on this street before. |
Not far from there, many banyan and fig trees on Huong Vien Street (along the Hai Ba Trung lake) have been re-erected. |
However, there are still quite a few deep planting holes remaining after the trees were moved. Authorities have temporarily placed warning signs to ensure the safety of road users. |
A large hole was left by a fallen banyan tree. Authorities have placed warning barriers. |
A planting hole is filled with more soil to ensure its integrity. |
According to information from the Hai Ba Trung District People's Committee, the district is filling the holes where trees were planted after they fell and had to be moved elsewhere. |
This is to prevent encroachment, ensure safety, and serve the purpose of planting replacement trees. |
On September 17, on Hao Nam and Hoang Cau streets (Dong Da district), units hired by the district People's Committee were present to fill soil into tree planting holes. |
According to our investigation, replanting will begin in the next few days. However, the supply of seedlings from nurseries in Hung Yen province is currently difficult due to significant damage caused by the floods. |
Previously, at the working session with the Hanoi Department of Construction, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan requested the Department of Construction as well as related units to focus on handling and repairing the broken tree system, especially in parks and urban areas. In particular, it is necessary to mobilize the participation of units to complete the repair of technical infrastructure, trees, urban lighting systems, and urban beautification to be ready for the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital. |
Mr. Duong Duc Tuan suggested that after cutting down broken and fallen trees, the Department of Construction should continue to clean up, ensuring that all broken and fallen trees will be cleared before September 20 to move on to the "rescue" phase. |
"At the same time, focus on restoring infrastructure and renovating sidewalks after replanting broken and fallen trees," said Mr. Tuan. |
