Exciting sailing and SUP racing on Da Nang sea

On the morning of September 6, the 2025 National Sailing and SUP Race kicked off in Da Nang, attracting more than 70 professional athletes from provinces and cities across the country.

The 2025 National Youth Sailing and SUP Championship and National Club Cup are organized by the Vietnam Sailing Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City.

The tournament takes place until September 7 at Nguyen Tat Thanh beach (Da Nang city), attracting the participation of more than 70 male and female athletes from many provinces and cities across the country.

Athletes competing in the sailing tournament compete in the Optimist, Laser, and 470 boat categories.

SUP (stand up paddleboard) competition for men and women at distances of 200m - 3,000m, divided into different age groups.

At the tournament, the athletes gave the audience exciting and dramatic competitions.

Not only creating opportunities for young athletes to compete, the tournament is also an important stepping stone to select new talents for the national team, preparing for international tournaments in 2025 and the following years. At the same time, it promotes the development of the sailing and SUP training movement across the country.

Mr. Tran Cong Tu - Director of the Da Nang City Sports Center - said that over the years, with favorable natural conditions and infrastructure, Da Nang has become a venue for hosting national rowing competitions.

"At the beaches in Da Nang, SUP rowing has attracted a large number of people and tourists to practice. I hope the tournament will contribute to developing and promoting water sports to the people and tourists. At the same time, Da Nang will become a prestigious and quality center for organizing and training to develop water sports in the country," Mr. Tu shared.
