Ta Leng develops unique commodity agriculture

Mr. Phong Vinh Cuong - Chairman of Ta Leng Commune People's Committee said: "The commune has the advantage of geographical location, being located on National Highway 4D; has many other favorable natural conditions such as: Ta Leng terraced fields, high mountain peaks creating potential for developing mountain climbing and exploration tourism; temperate climate is favorable for growing trees: pear, peach, apricot... these are the conditions to build a concentrated commodity agriculture and use it as a pillar for the socio-economic development of the commune".

Ta Leng also has an area of old forests and high mountains over 1,500m above sea level, these are favorable conditions for developing medicinal plants, especially Lai Chau ginseng, cardamom, and seven-leaf flower. Currently, in Ta Leng commune, over 450 hectares of medicinal plants of all kinds have been developed, of which 5.86 hectares are Lai Chau ginseng, 389 hectares are cardamom, and 1.23 hectares are seven-leaf flower... Along with that, Ta Leng commune has developed a temperate fruit tree area (peach, plum, pear) with an area of over 300 hectares and an ancient tea area of 91 hectares at an altitude of over 2,000m above sea level. Ancient tea trees in Ta Leng are also being oriented to develop OCOP products with high economic value in the area.

Mr. Sung Thanh Tra in Ta Leng village (Ta Leng commune) said: "From the ancient tea trees on the top of Ta Lien Son mountain, I want to create typical products of my locality, thereby creating income and jobs for my family and the villagers."

The locality has successfully built 4 3-star OCOP products such as: Le Giang Ma, Lai Chau Mountain Ginseng Tea, Lotus Leaf Ginseng Tea, Si Thau Chai Community Tourism Village. In the coming time, with the available advantages and achieved results, Ta Leng commune is determined to continue to build and enhance the unique products associated with its inherent strengths, which is to build Si Thau Chai village to meet ASEAN community tourism standards; develop and enhance the value of Lai Chau Ginseng growing areas in the commune.

Focusing on agricultural development associated with the inherent strengths of the locality, in recent years, the economy of Ta Leng commune has continued to develop steadily, with a clear shift in crop structure. A clear proof of this transformation is that the average income of the commune is estimated at 46.6 million VND/person/year, an increase of 17.6 million VND compared to 2020. The poverty rate in the commune has also decreased year by year. It is estimated that by 2025, the poverty rate of the commune will decrease to 10.1%.
