10 suspects detained in fake pharmaceutical production ring

The Economic Police Department (Ho Chi Minh City Police) is temporarily detaining 10 related subjects to serve the investigation expansion. Among them, the leader is Quach Ngoc Giao (55 years old, residing in District 10).

According to initial information, through investigation and monitoring, recently, the Economic Police Department's detectives arrested Giao while transporting a box containing 300 boxes of Fugacar branded medicine to deliver to a customer.

Searching Giao's residence, warehouse and 19 production and consumption points of fake modern medicine in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Tien Giang provinces, the police discovered a large quantity of modern medicine with famous brands.

It is known that most of the seized counterfeit medicines were carefully packaged in boxes, ready to be put on the market for consumption. These medicines, according to the brand, have the function of treating cardiovascular diseases, respiratory infections, blood pressure, etc.

Police arrested more subjects related to this network.

Giao and his accomplices confessed that they bought raw materials from Vietnamese pharmaceutical companies, then changed the packaging, stamps, and labels of the drugs into imported drugs to sell on the market at high prices. After producing fake drugs, the subjects transferred the finished products to the warehouse and then sold them one by one.

The total value of seized exhibits is estimated at tens of billions of dong.
