Due to the influence of Typhoon Fengshen (Typhoon No. 12), on the morning of October 20th, the sea off the coast of Quang Ngai experienced increasingly strong northerly to northwesterly winds reaching level 6, gusting to levels 7-8; wave heights of 2.5-3.5m, and rough seas. Passenger transport routes between Sa Ky and Ly Son had to temporarily suspend operations to ensure the safety of residents and tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ly Son Special Economic Zone, said that Ly Son Special Economic Zone is located about 15 nautical miles from the mainland. Given the potentially prolonged rough seas due to the storm, the People's Committee has encouraged and requested residents to proactively stock up on essential food supplies. Shops and grocery stores have been urged to increase their reserves to ensure a supply for at least one month.

On Be Island alone, the authorities have prepared a reserve of 1 ton of rice to provide timely assistance to residents in case of rough seas or isolation. The supply of essential goods in the Ly Son Special Economic Zone remains stable, meeting daily needs.

Mr. Huy added that the Ly Son Special Economic Zone People's Committee also directed agencies and units to regularly inspect shops, and there have been no instances of speculation, hoarding, or price gouging. In recent years, modern transportation methods, along with timely monitoring of sea weather, have made it easier to proactively secure food, fuel, and gas supplies.

According to the Quang Ngai Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station, from the night of October 21st to October 22nd, the coastal sea area (including Ly Son Special Economic Zone) is likely to experience strong winds up to level 7, gusting to levels 8-9, with rough seas. The offshore sea area of Quang Ngai is likely to experience strong winds up to level 8, sometimes level 9, gusting to level 10, with very rough seas.

All ships, boats, and aquaculture cages operating in these hazardous areas are susceptible to the effects of thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.

In Quang Ngai province, due to the influence of the circulation of typhoon No. 12 combined with a cold front, there is a high probability of widespread heavy rain from October 22nd to 29th. It is necessary to prepare for flood scenarios on rivers in Quang Ngai province that could reach alarm levels 2-3 and exceed alarm level 3. The forecast indicates a level 3 natural disaster risk due to floods and inundation.
