Thanh Nam is one of the three professional judges in the special round of the 2025 Golden Bell of Traditional Vietnamese Music competition, alongside People's Artist Phuong Loan and People's Artist Trong Phuc.

In addition to the three judges Thanh Nam, Phuong Loan, and Trong Phuc, the final night of the 2025 Golden Bell of Traditional Music competition on September 7th also featured two guest judges, artists Kim Phuong and Chi Tam.
During contestant Pham Ngoc Nu's performance from Dong Thap , Thanh Nam expressed regret that she didn't perform well, saying that Nu's singing was completely off-key, even her rendition of the traditional Vietnamese folk song was out of tune.
"Even in her heart, she's still showing off her talent" - Thanh Nam's comment on Ngoc Nu's singing made the audience laugh because of his witty, distinctly Southern Vietnamese way of speaking, yet humorous.
Thanh Nam hoped that Ngoc Nu would try to overcome her shortcomings because she had a bright and beautiful figure, suitable for playing the lead role.
He also complained that he didn't know why so many contestants sang off-key on the night of September 7th, a mistake that would make their performances less smooth and unpleasant for the listeners.

Having been invited to be a judge on the Golden Bell of Traditional Vietnamese Music competition since last year, artist Thanh Nam has kept viewers eagerly awaiting his comments.
Beyond just professional assessments, his witty way of speaking brought laughter to each competition night and eased the tension of the exam atmosphere.
Wang Guan Zhi scored the highest points.
In the first final night, the 9 contestants were divided into three teams led by coaches Ngoc Doi, Ho Ngoc Trinh, and Vo Minh Lam.
Each team will perform a group act featuring a combination of three traditional Vietnamese folk songs, each based on a specific theme.
The three contestants Huỳnh Kim Tho, Đặng Thị Thùy Dương, and Nguyễn Phú Yên from Ngọc Đợi's team performed a piece themed "The River of My Homeland ."
Ho Ngoc Trinh's team, consisting of Le Thi Ha Nhu, Nguyen Tan Dat, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nhu, competed with the theme "Love in the Northwest Highlands ."

The team led by Vo Minh Lam, consisting of Nguyen Thi My Duyen, Vuong Quan Tri, and Pham Ngoc Nu, chose the theme "Proud of Vietnam's Seas and Islands ."
Overall, the three coaches created a very vibrant atmosphere in the first night of the competition. This included the gentle beauty of clear, cool rivers, the dazzling colors of the Northwest region, and the proud love for the homeland's islands and seas.

As a result, the youngest contestant in the competition, Vuong Quan Tri, received the highest score from the judges.
Tri was trained by Vo Minh Lam to portray the image of a naval soldier, singing the song "Remembering Truong Sa" by composer Hoang Song Viet.
Tri, along with six other contestants including Dang Thi Thuy Duong, Nguyen Phu Yen, Le Thi Ha Nhu, Nguyen Tan Dat, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nhu, and Nguyen Thi My Duyen, were selected to advance to the second final round, which took place on the evening of September 14th at the HTV Television Theater.
Contestants Huynh Kim Tho and Pham Ngoc Nu were eliminated in the first night of the competition because their performances were not convincing.

In each round of the Golden Bell Traditional Music Ranking Finals, in addition to practicing for their competition performances, the organizers also involve the contestants in social activities.
For example, before the first final night, the contestants visited elderly artists at the Thi Nghe Nursing Home, and offered incense to People's Artist Phung Ha and many other artists at the Artists' Temple in Ho Chi Minh City.
