Candidates from passing to failing 10th grade specialized exam, Hai Phong Department of Education and Training apologizes

Receiving notice of admission to a specialized 10th grade class in Hai Phong, H. completed the admission procedures, but many days later was informed that she did not have enough points.

The Hai Phong Department of Education and Training has just issued a document explaining and apologizing for the unfortunate incident that occurred during the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year for PHH students.

Specifically, the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training announced the standard score sheet and the list of admitted students to the 10th grade Russian class of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted. In the first admission round, candidate PHH, registration number 17X.XXX did not have enough points to pass the Russian specialized class.

On July 5, the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training announced the second benchmark scores for the specialized classes of this school. Accordingly, the benchmark score for the 10th grade specializing in Russian is 34.95 points, PHH candidate just passed the exam, ranked 35th in order of admission score from highest to lowest.

PHH candidates have received admission notice and have completed the procedures for receiving new classes according to regulations.

Immediately after that, the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training received a petition from the family of candidate PNHT. This petition stated that PNHT had enough points to pass the Russian specialized class (PNHT's score was higher than PHH's score) but was not on the admission list.

The Department conducted a re-inspection. The results from the software supplier showed that candidate PNHT registered 5 wishes in turn from English, Chinese, French, Korean and Russian specialized classes and the 6th wish was a public high school in Hai Phong. Thus, the 35th successful candidate of the Russian specialized class at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted was student PNHT, not student PHH. This unfortunate incident occurred due to a software error.

According to the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training, when the scores were announced the first time, knowing that he did not have enough points to pass Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, PNHT withdrew his application from the public school to transfer to Vinschool Imperia Primary - Middle - High School.

Meanwhile, the admission software is programmed based on the candidates' wishes. When PNHT was admitted to a public school but did not enroll, the admission software system automatically removed his name from the second admission list.

After reviewing the information, the Department of Education and Training issued a document recognizing the admission results of PNHT to the Russian specialized class at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted. PHH was recognized as admitted to a public school that had registered as her first choice in the high school block.
