Prime Minister directs to overcome consequences and clarify particularly serious traffic accident in Dong Nai

According to a quick report from the National Traffic Safety Committee, at 2:30 a.m. on September 30, 2023, at km48 of National Highway 20 in Phu Vinh commune, Dinh Quan district, Dong Nai province, an especially serious traffic accident occurred between a sleeper bus with license plate 50F-004.83 and a 16-seat bus with license plate 86B-015.75; resulting in 4 deaths and many injuries.

Immediately upon receiving information about the accident, the Prime Minister sent his condolences to the relatives and families of the deceased victims, encouraged and visited the injured victims in the accident, and assigned the Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee to go directly to the scene to coordinate with the People's Committee of Dong Nai province and relevant agencies to direct the handling of the consequences and visit the victims in the accident.

To promptly overcome the consequences and prevent similar traffic accidents, the Prime Minister requested:

The Chairman of the People's Committee and Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Dong Nai province directed the provincial agencies and functional units to: Concentrate the maximum number of doctors, medicines, equipment, and medical supplies to treat the injured victims; create favorable conditions for families to quickly approach the victims in the accident, complete procedures related to the deceased victims; organize visits, support and encourage the families of the deceased victims and the injured victims in the accident.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province directly chaired the conference with relevant agencies and forces to assess the causes, deploy solutions to overcome existing problems and shortcomings, and at the same time consider strictly handling the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister in Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated April 19, 2023 on strengthening the work of ensuring order and safety of road traffic in the new situation.

Closely coordinate with the competent agencies of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Transport, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province to comprehensively inspect the compliance with regulations on business and conditions for business of automobile transportation for enterprises, business households with vehicles and people involved in the accident; strictly handle violations in accordance with the law.

The Ministry of Public Security directs the Dong Nai Provincial Police and relevant units to urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the accident and strictly handle in accordance with the law the organizations and individuals who violated the regulations, causing the above-mentioned particularly serious traffic accident; identify and clarify the direct cause of the traffic accident and the causes related to the responsibilities of collectives and individuals in the state management work related to the above-mentioned traffic accident to serve the work of preventing similar traffic accidents in the future.

The Ministry of Transport directed the Vietnam Road Administration to coordinate with relevant agencies to review and strengthen traffic organization to improve the safety of the traffic infrastructure system on National Highway 20; focusing on adding guardrails and emergency shelters at steep mountain passes on national highways nationwide.

The National Traffic Safety Committee urgently coordinates with the People's Committee of Dong Nai province and related localities to overcome the consequences, visit and encourage victims of the traffic accident; participate in a working session with the People's Committee of Dong Nai province and related ministries, branches and agencies in analyzing the causes and proposing solutions to prevent traffic accidents in the future.

Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities shall step up propaganda, guidance and strict implementation of the Prime Minister's directions in Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated April 19, 2023 on strengthening the work of ensuring road traffic order and safety in the new situation; proactively have drastic, timely and effective leadership and direction solutions to repel and minimize traffic accidents, ensuring the best safety of people's lives, health and property.
