Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives Saudi Arabia's Ministers of Economy, Planning and Human Resources

According to the Vietnam News Agency Special Envoy, continuing activities within the framework of his visit to Saudi Arabia and attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, on the afternoon of October 19 (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Saudi Arabia's Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal Al-Ibrahim, and Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed Al-Rajhi.

At the reception for Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Al-Ibrahim, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Saudi Arabia on its great achievements in diversifying and developing non-oil economic sectors, promoting the application of science and technology, innovation, prioritizing green and sustainable development, towards realizing the goals in the “Vision 2030” Strategy.

Affirming that the Vietnam-Saudi Arabia cooperation relationship is developing very well and still has much potential to promote cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two economies strengthen connectivity, coordinate in organizing trade and investment promotion activities, prioritizing areas such as energy, finance and banking, and strengthen cooperation in new areas such as cooperation in production, processing of Halal products, digital transformation, etc.

In the field of trade, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that both sides create conditions for each other's strong products to penetrate each other's markets; coordinate to promptly resolve difficulties in exporting Vietnamese farmed aquatic products to Saudi Arabia. To facilitate enhanced cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that both sides increase delegation exchanges, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, share development experiences, and promote transport and aviation connections.

Minister Faisal Al-Ibrahim highly appreciated the achievements of the Vietnamese Government in economic management and development, affirming that he will closely coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Mines, Chairman of the Saudi Arabian side of the Vietnam - Saudi Arabia Intergovernmental Committee in the coming time to further deepen economic cooperation with Vietnam, especially in trade and investment, emphasizing that the two countries can take advantage of each other's markets as a gateway to expand exports to other markets in the region.

The Saudi Arabian Minister of Economy and Planning expressed his wish to visit Vietnam soon and complete negotiations and sign cooperation documents with Vietnamese partners.

To achieve the above goals, the two sides agreed to study the establishment of joint economic working groups and soon organize the 5th meeting of the Joint Committee in the coming time and study to improve the effectiveness of this mechanism in reviewing and promoting bilateral cooperation.

At the reception for Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the positive developments in the relationship between the two countries in recent times; affirmed that labor is an important and indispensable field of cooperation in bilateral cooperation, especially in the context that Saudi Arabia is implementing many large urban and infrastructure projects... in the process of implementing the "Vision 2030" Strategy.

In order to further enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in this field, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the two sides increase exchanges between labor management agencies, promote cooperation in the field of training, connect labor markets, and accelerate the completion of the legal framework for labor cooperation to support each other in supplementing quality human resources in the process of national development.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit to Saudi Arabia on this occasion, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi said that Saudi Arabia has many ambitious goals in the field of human resources and labor, including a plan to increase the number of foreign workers by 10 million in the coming time in various fields, especially industrial production, energy, healthcare, tourism, etc.

Minister Al-Rajhi highly appreciated the quality of the Vietnamese workforce, including highly skilled workers, and affirmed that the potential for cooperation in this field is still very large. Minister Al-Rajhi expressed his hope that the two sides will coordinate and soon resolve current difficulties in labor cooperation to send more Vietnamese workers to Saudi Arabia in the coming time, especially in terms of legal framework, training cooperation and building an effective recruitment mechanism.
