Recognizing Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee as a breakthrough opportunity and key solution to promote growth, increase income, improve living standards, and reduce poverty for the people, Thuan Nam district has issued numerous documents and plans to lead and direct its implementation. Alongside this, it has intensified propaganda efforts to raise awareness among the entire political system and all segments of the population about the position and role of high-tech applied agriculture, promoting the positive shift in crop and livestock structure, gradually forming large-scale, concentrated production areas suitable to the conditions of each region; the leading role of farmers and businesses is increasingly being promoted, initially effectively exploiting land potential and contributing to local economic growth.
The model of growing cantaloupe in greenhouses implemented by Seagull ADC Ninh Thuan Co., Ltd. yields high economic efficiency.
Phuoc Dinh is a coastal commune with a large land area, a well-developed transportation system, and favorable weather conditions suitable for the development of high-tech agriculture, with crops such as: cantaloupe, aloe vera, custard apple, and green asparagus; in particular, the salinity of the seawater is suitable for seed production and aquaculture. To exploit this potential and advantage, the People's Committee of the commune developed Plan No. 60/KH-UBND dated June 9, 2022, on the implementation of policies to support agricultural and rural development, thereby attracting several businesses to invest in high-tech agricultural projects.
SADC DannyGreen Organic Farm - Son Hai, owned by Seagull ADC Ninh Thuan Co., Ltd., is one of the pioneering enterprises in applying CNC technology to production, yielding significant results. The company invested in land improvement and cultivated 120 hectares of cantaloupe, longan, mango, dates, etc. Thanks to the application of greenhouse technology and microclimate control in production, which automatically adjusts irrigation water, humidity, temperature, and fertilizer levels, crop yields are high. In particular, the company's cantaloupe products are widely sold in domestic supermarkets and exported, generating annual revenue of 120-130 billion VND and providing stable employment for 120 local workers. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thuan, Director of the company, shared: "By participating in the investment and development of clean agricultural products, the company has always received the attention and active support of relevant agencies and local authorities, especially preferential land policies. This is an important driving force for the company to continue expanding its area by another 9 hectares in the near future."
Comrade Nguyen Lam, Secretary of the Phuoc Dinh Commune Party Committee, observed: The implementation of Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee has brought about many positive changes, transforming the thinking and actions of cadres, Party members, and the people. Businesses have effectively played their role in linking with cooperatives and production groups in production and product consumption; at the same time, they have guided farmers to proactively apply scientific and technological advancements to production, increasing income and stabilizing their lives.
Over the past nearly two years since the implementation of Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, agricultural production in Thuan Nam district has developed quite comprehensively in terms of scale, productivity, and quality; the structure of the agricultural sector has shifted in the right direction, and the application of science and technology in production has increased. To date, the entire district has 8 enterprises operating in high-tech agricultural production; including 5 projects in crop cultivation, 2 aquaculture projects, and 1 livestock project; the value of high-tech agricultural production for crops grown in greenhouses and polytunnels reaches 500-700 million VND/ha. According to the assessment of the Thuan Nam District People's Committee, although some results have been achieved, the development of high-tech agriculture still faces many difficulties such as attracting a large number of enterprises to invest in projects compared to the scale of available land, the rate of application of science and technology is still low, and the ability to link with the market is limited.
Thuan Nam District has set a target for 2030: the value of high-tech agricultural production will reach 700 million VND/hectare, the area of high-tech agricultural production will reach 200 hectares, 7 high-tech agricultural projects will operate effectively, shrimp seed production will reach 5 billion units/year, and 100% of facilities will meet the requirements for producing and raising aquatic seeds and will be monitored for disease safety... To achieve these goals, the district has proposed solutions focusing on exploiting and maximizing the advantages of natural conditions and infrastructure to build and develop specialized high-tech agricultural production areas, linked with processing and preservation to create more added value for key agricultural products; exploiting the advantages of the sea to develop aquaculture, seafood processing and fisheries logistics services. It will also create conditions for organizations and individuals to participate in production through value chain production linkage models. Diversify investment sources, other social resources, and people's contributions to build rural infrastructure projects serving the development of high-tech agriculture.
