Thuan Nam: Focus on developing high-tech agriculture

Implementing Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU dated October 12, 2021 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on continuing to promote the development of high-tech agriculture in the 2021-2025 period, with a vision to 2030, agricultural production activities in Thuan Nam district have clearly changed, creating quality products and improving efficiency per unit area.

Identifying Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee as an opportunity, a breakthrough solution, and a focus to promote growth, increase income, improve living standards, and reduce poverty for people, Thuan Nam district has issued many documents and plans to lead and direct implementation. Along with that, promoting propaganda to raise awareness of the entire political system and all classes of people about the position and role of CNC applied agriculture, promoting the process of shifting the structure of crops and livestock in a positive direction, gradually forming concentrated, large-scale production areas suitable to the conditions of each region; the role of farmers and enterprises is increasingly promoted, initially effectively exploiting land potential, contributing to local economic growth.

Phuoc Dinh is a coastal commune with a large land fund, a basically complete transportation system and favorable weather conditions suitable for the development of CNC agriculture, with crops such as: Melon, aloe vera, custard apple, green asparagus; In particular, the salinity of seawater is suitable for seed production and aquaculture. To exploit the potential and advantages, the People's Committee of the commune has developed Plan No. 60/KH-UBND dated June 9, 2022 on implementing policies to support agricultural and rural development, thereby calling for and attracting a number of enterprises to invest in CNC agriculture projects.

SADC DannyGreen Organic Farm - Son Hai of Seagull ADC Ninh Thuan Co., Ltd. is one of the pioneering enterprises in applying CNC in production to bring about efficiency. The company invested in land improvement, producing 120 hectares of melons, longans, mangoes, dates... Thanks to the application of greenhouse technology, applying microclimate control in production, helping to automatically adjust the amount of irrigation water, humidity, temperature, and fertilizer, so the crop yield is high; in particular, the company's melon products are widely consumed in domestic supermarkets and exported, with annual revenue reaching 120-130 billion VND, contributing to creating stable jobs for 120 local workers. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thuan, Director of the Company, shared: Participating in investing in developing clean agricultural products, the company always receives attention and active support from functional sectors and local authorities, especially preferential land policies, this is an important motivation for the company to continue expanding the area by 9 hectares in the coming time.

Comrade Nguyen Lam, Secretary of the Phuoc Dinh Commune Party Committee, acknowledged: The implementation of Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee has brought about many positive changes, changing the mindset and actions of cadres, party members and people. Enterprises have promoted their role in linking with cooperatives and cooperative groups in production and consumption of products; at the same time, guiding farmers to proactively apply synchronous scientific and technical advances in production, increase income and stabilize life.

After nearly 2 years of implementing Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, agricultural production in Thuan Nam district has developed quite comprehensively in terms of scale, productivity and quality; the structure of the agricultural sector has shifted in the right direction, the amount of science and technology applied in production has increased. Up to now, the whole district has 8 enterprises operating in agricultural production applying CNC; of which, there are 5 projects in the field of cultivation, 2 aquaculture projects and 1 livestock project; the value of agricultural production applying CNC for crops grown in greenhouses and membrane houses reaches 500-700 million VND/ha. According to the assessment of the People's Committee of Thuan Nam district, although achieving certain results, the process of developing agricultural application CNC still faces many difficulties such as attracting enterprises to invest in projects not much compared to the scale of land fund, the rate of applying science and technology is still low, the ability to link with the market is limited.

Thuan Nam district sets a target of 700 million VND/ha in CNC agricultural production value by 2030, 200ha of CNC agricultural production area, 7 CNC agricultural projects operating effectively, shrimp seed output reaching 5 billion/year, 100% of facilities meeting the conditions for production, aquaculture and disease safety monitoring... To achieve the above target, the district proposes solutions focusing on exploiting and maximizing the advantages of natural conditions and infrastructure to build and develop specialized CNC production areas, associated with processing and preservation to create more added value for key agricultural products; exploiting the advantages of the sea to develop aquaculture, seafood processing and fishing logistics services. Creating conditions for organizations and individuals to participate in production through value chain production linkage models. Diversify investment sources, other social resources and people's contributions to build rural infrastructure works to serve the development of agriculture applying CNC.
