Accordingly, the 1st Dong Thap Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030 (Congress) will take place in 2 days, from September 30, 2025 - October 1, 2025 at Dong Thap Provincial Convention Center.
The Congress has the theme "Building a clean and strong Party and political system; promoting innovation, rapidly developing industry, building a modern and ecological agriculture; improving the quality of life of the people; firmly ensuring national defense and security". The motto of action is "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development".
The preparation of the Political Report, the draft Review Report to be submitted to the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030; the draft Documents of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030 were carefully, closely and unanimously prepared, especially the targets in the Resolution of the Congress.
Regarding personnel work, Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee said that at this Congress, the Politburo announced decisions on appointments to the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary, Deputy Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030; Provincial Party Committee Inspection Committee, Vice Chairman, Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee Inspection Committee, term 2025 - 2030.
According to the Political Report presented at the Congress, for the 2020-2025 term, the Provincial Party Congress Resolution set out 23 targets, of which 17 targets were achieved and exceeded, especially targets on environment, culture, society, and Party building. The average economic growth (GRDP) over the past 5 years reached more than 5.5%. The average GRDP per capita is estimated at about 85.5 million VND. The state budget revenue increased by an average of more than 2.2% per year.
During the term, Dong Thap Province focused on implementing 6 breakthroughs in: Developing agricultural economy; investing in the formation of key products and driving forces; developing enterprises and startups; building infrastructure; developing human resources; administrative reform and Party building. The results have created great changes in many important areas.
During the 2025-2030 term, Dong Thap Party Committee sets the goal of building a clean and strong Party Committee and political system. Promoting the strength of national solidarity, arousing the people's aspirations for development and self-reliance. By 2030, Dong Thap will strive to become a province with fast-growing industry, pioneering in building ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers, belonging to the group of leading developed localities in the Mekong Delta, improving people's lives, advancing culture and society, ensuring national defense and security.
By 2045, Dong Thap strives to become a modern agricultural and eco-tourism center of the Mekong Delta, a leading locality in the country in a number of agricultural fields, developing advanced industry, a livable place, where people have a prosperous and happy life.
To achieve the above goals, Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee set 14 targets, distributed across the fields of economy, culture - society, environment and Party building.
To welcome the Congress, Dong Thap launched an emulation movement to welcome the Congress with the theme "30 days towards the Dong Thap Provincial Party Congress"; Exhibition of socio-economic achievements with the theme "Dong Thap - Journey of aspiration"; Organizing an art program to welcome the Congress with the theme "Under the glorious Party flag - Dong Thap proudly follows"...
Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen emphasized that this is an important political event of Dong Thap, of historical significance after the two provinces of Tien Giang and Dong Thap merged on July 1, 2025, opening a new development path, with stature, aspirations and noble mission. With this significance, the work of preparing documents and organizing the Congress has received great attention from the Provincial Party Committee. The relevant units have started working very urgently, with high determination to organize the Congress successfully. Especially to complete the Congress documents and Resolutions, the Provincial Party Committee organized 3 major seminars and many sessions to widely collect opinions from the masses. Thereby, receiving good and practical opinions, contributing to completing the Congress documents.
The Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee initially assigned relevant agencies to synthesize the opinions of journalists and reporters; review the work of reporters and journalists registered to work at the Congress so that the Provincial Party Committee will create the best conditions for press agencies to work at the Congress.
At the press conference, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap informed about the plan to organize the Red Lotus Land Marathon - Dong Thap in 2025, gathering 10,600 athletes to participate, including about 2,000 children participating in the 800m distance and 39 international athletes. It is expected to be held from October 10 to October 12, 2025.
