The 8th session of the 15th National Assembly will hold its preparatory session and solemn opening ceremony tomorrow morning (October 21), and is expected to close on the morning of November 30.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Dinh stated that the 8th Session was held immediately after the successful conclusion of the 10th Central Committee Conference, with the spirit of reviewing the past period, the whole country focusing its efforts on breakthroughs and effectively achieving the set goals amidst a complex global situation.
" Given the importance of this session, General Secretary and President To Lam will deliver a speech at the opening session. This session has the most agenda items, many draft laws, many new issues, including oversight matters, such as amending the Law on Supervision, " said National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh.
According to the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, this session has the heaviest workload since the beginning of the 15th term, with many major issues being considered and discussed, aiming to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles in institutions and policies, unlock resources, overcome bottlenecks, all for the socio-economic development of the country and ensure the well-being of the people.
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly has worked with the Government many times and held numerous sessions to formulate the agenda for the session, with 31 legislative tasks, 16 socio-economic tasks, more than 80 projects, and 132 out of 154 official documents sent to National Assembly deputies.
" Another new point is the unified reduction of time spent reading documents in the assembly hall, allocating more time for National Assembly discussions; increasing discussion time in committees and reducing plenary discussion time to receive more opinions, " Mr. Nguyen Khac Dinh said, while emphasizing that the National Assembly works four Saturdays and is ready to work even in the evenings.
At the press conference, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Phan Duc Hieu stated that the Government submitted the investment policy dossier for the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis yesterday (October 19). The Economic Committee will coordinate with relevant National Assembly agencies to thoroughly review this matter.

" Because the new government has just submitted the proposal, details regarding capital, land allocation for the project, and other important matters are currently unclear. However, the Economic Committee has determined that reviewing the investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project is extremely important and will dedicate considerable time to its implementation ," said Mr. Phan Duc Hieu.
Regarding the issue raised at the 7th session, where the pilot project to expand land for commercial housing was expected to be submitted to the National Assembly but was not presented due to delays in preparing the dossier, Mr. Phan Duc Hieu stated that the Government has only completed the procedural steps. To submit it to the National Assembly, it will have to be added to the legislative agenda, after which the Economic Committee will review it.
" We still have to wait for the Government to officially submit the documents before we can proceed with the next steps ," the Standing Member of the Economic Committee emphasized.
