General Secretary and President To Lam offers incense at Uncle Ho's statue in Ho Chi Minh City

On the morning of August 17, General Secretary and President To Lam and senior leaders of the State and Ho Chi Minh City offered incense at the Uncle Ho Monument Park on Nguyen Hue walking street, District 1.

This is the first activity in a series of events during the first visit and working session in Ho Chi Minh City of General Secretary and President To Lam in his capacity as General Secretary.

Reporting to Uncle Ho, the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, reported on the security and defense situation of the city. He said that with its strategic location, Ho Chi Minh City is a hot spot where hostile forces often focus on sabotage with the plot of "peaceful evolution", inciting civil society, and creating reactionary movements.

In the face of the above situation, the Ho Chi Minh City Police continue to promote revolutionary traditions, applying the motto of "Proactive Security" to protect political security. At the same time, the unit also proactively builds a people's security posture, prevents and fights against all plots of hostile forces.

As the economic center of the country, Ho Chi Minh City also faces many types of crime. However, thanks to the motto "Prevention is the foundation, combat is the breakthrough", Ho Chi Minh City Police have achieved many achievements in maintaining security and order.

Lieutenant General Nam said that over the past 5 years, criminal offenses have decreased by an average of more than 8% per year, with a decrease of nearly 22% in 2023 compared to the same period. With these achievements, the Ho Chi Minh City Police have been awarded many noble titles by the Party and State such as Hero of the People's Armed Forces during the resistance war, Second-class Military Exploit Order and many certificates of merit from the Prime Minister.

In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department has just been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in the Renovation Period, recognizing the outstanding contributions of this force in protecting security and order in the city.

After the incense offering ceremony to President Ho Chi Minh, General Secretary and President To Lam will attend the program to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the People's Public Security implementing President Ho Chi Minh's testament (1969-2024); the 79th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day (August 19, 1945-August 19, 2024); and award the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the Ho Chi Minh City Public Security.
