On the afternoon of September 25th local time, or the morning of September 26th Hanoi time, after concluding his participation in the Future Summit of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly and working in the United States, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, departed New York for a state visit to Cuba at the invitation of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez and his wife.

The delegation included Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh ; Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang; Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang; Chief of the Central Party Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Department Le Hoai Trung; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai; and several Central Party Committee members including Ministers, Provincial Party Secretaries; Assistants to the General Secretary; and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Cuba.
This state visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam marks a significant moment of historical importance, serving as a powerful testament to the special fraternal friendship that has existed for the past 65 years between the two nations, separated by half the globe. This friendship has always been considered a precious asset highly valued by the Parties, States, and peoples of both countries.
