On December 10th, the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade held a summary meeting for the program supporting the consulting project for the development of smart factories in Da Nang City in 2024.
The 2024 Smart Factory Development Consulting Project Support Program in Da Nang City will be implemented at the factories of three companies. Selected businesses will receive support from Samsung experts in assessing the level of smartness of their factories. Based on this assessment, they will develop a consulting plan, a key improvement plan, post-project goals, and a specific list of areas requiring improvement to further develop their smart factories.

At Minh Thinh Loi Production and Trading Co., Ltd., starting from an initial assessment of 1.0/5.0 for the smart factory standard, after 3 months of project implementation, with direct support from Samsung experts, Minh Thinh Loi's factory achieved a score of 2.7/5.0.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Minh, Deputy Director of the company, said that with the advice of Samsung experts, the unit has received support in training personnel to operate the smart factory; investing in machinery, technology, and equipment to transition from automated production to smart production (combining automated production with digital applications). “To date, we have applied about 20% of the advice on technology and equipment application from experts to the factory's management and operation system. In the future, Minh Thinh Loi will continue to complete 100% of the recommendations and advice so that the factory can gradually operate smartly,” Mr. Nguyen Thanh Minh said, expressing his hope to continue receiving remote support from experts in the process of applying digital technology to the factory's operations.

At Trung Khoa Printing Co., Ltd. (An Don Industrial Park, Da Nang City), with the direct presence of Samsung experts at the factory to provide support and advice, the company has built a smart warehouse; digitized and operated remotely, raising the factory's intelligence index from 1.1/5.0 to 3.0/5.0.

Mr. Jang Yoon Ho, Director of Partner Support at Samsung Vietnam, stated that the essence of smart factory operations is optimization, aiming to make all hidden aspects of the production process transparent. This, in turn, helps businesses maximize profits in their operations. Achieving this requires a foundation of systematic business management, and the tool to achieve that system is management software.

According to Mr. Jang Yoon Ho, the foundation for the economic development of Da Nang in particular, and Vietnam in general, is to further enhance the competitiveness of the city's businesses. The smart factory model is not an option, but a necessity that businesses are compelled to implement. And businesses advised and supported by Samsung can become the core to promote digital transformation in Da Nang.
Regarding the projects that received consulting support, Mr. Jang Yoon Ho stated that this project is the starting point for launching the digital transformation process in businesses. He emphasized that businesses need to continue investing in and expanding digital transformation. The representative from Samsung Vietnam stressed the role of human resources and innovative thinking in digital transformation within businesses. “Building a smart factory isn't about the software; the mindset of the operating personnel is the most important factor. Therefore, businesses must have an innovative mindset in building and operating their factories,” Mr. Jang Yoon Ho said, and suggested that the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade organize visits for businesses in the city to factories that received consulting support for smart operation, and continue to develop policies to promote supporting industries.
The Director of Partner Support at Samsung Vietnam also informed that Samsung Vietnam is developing a plan to expand the project to continue supporting Vietnamese businesses in the coming years.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tru, Deputy Director of the Da Nang City Department of Industry and Trade, said that the project to advise on the development of smart factories in the city is being implemented based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Department of Industry - Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Da Nang City Department of Industry and Trade, and Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. In 2024, Samsung experts provided consulting support for the construction of smart factories for three projects. The implementation of consulting services from Samsung experts, such as digital technology application and advanced 5S implementation at Minh Thinh Loi Company and Trung Khoa Printing Company, has created significant changes in the operation and activities of these companies; helping businesses reduce time, costs, and product prices; creating a solid foundation for businesses to continue expanding investment; and moving towards building comprehensive smart factories.
Representatives from the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade also expressed their hope that Samsung Vietnam would continue to support Da Nang businesses in building smart factories, with a view to increasing the number of businesses benefiting from this support.
