At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will pay a State visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from June 19 to 20, 2024.

Accompanying President Vladimir Putin on his State visit to Vietnam were: Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov; Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Russian Section of the Vietnam-Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technical Cooperation Dmitri Chernyshenko; Deputy Chief of the Presidential Office and Presidential Press Secretary Dmitri Peskov; Presidential Protocol Officer Vladislav Kitaev; Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko; Minister of Justice Konstantin Chuichenko; Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov; Minister of Transport Roman Starovoit; Minister of Energy Sergei Tsivilev; along with leaders and representatives of the Federal Agency for Military-Technical Cooperation; the Agency for Consumer Rights Protection and Welfare; the Federal Guard Service, the Presidential Security Service; the Ministry of Defense ; and the Primorye region. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin was born on October 7, 1952, in Leningrad, now Saint Petersburg (Russia). In 1975, he graduated from the Law Faculty of Leningrad University and later earned a PhD in economics. In 1975, he began working at the Committee for State Security (KGB). From 1985 to 1991, Putin worked in the German Democratic Republic. From 1991 to 1996, he held the positions of Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the City of Saint Petersburg; Vice Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Administration; and Deputy Mayor of Saint Petersburg, in charge of the city's foreign relations. In 1996, he transferred to Moscow, serving as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration's Finance and Administration Department. On March 26, 1997, Putin became Deputy Chief of Staff of the President of the Russian Federation, and later First Deputy Chief of Staff of the President of the Russian Federation, in charge of regional affairs. In July 1998, he assumed the position of Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB). In May 1999, Putin became Secretary of the Federal Security Council of the Russian Federation. In August 1999, Putin became Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and subsequently Acting President of the Russian Federation in December 1999. In March 2000, Vladimir Putin was elected President of the Russian Federation, and was re-elected for a second term in March 2004. From May 2008, he served as Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. In March 2012, Putin was elected President of the Russian Federation (for a third term) and re-elected for a fourth term in March 2018. In March 2024, he was elected President of the Russian Federation (for a fifth term).
