Ukraine's president to visit White House next week to seek aid

The United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week will take place from September 19 to 26 with the participation of heads of state and government of member countries.

The last time the US and Ukrainian presidents met was in July 2023 at the NATO Summit in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.

Mr. Zelenskyy's trip comes as the US Congress is debating President Joe Biden's proposal to provide up to $24 billion in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

Details of Mr Zelensky's visit next week have not yet been made public.
