To capitalize on its abundant land and raw material resources, Dong Trieu City has attracted many businesses to invest in and develop industrial production plants.
Dong Trieu, a locality with abundant and diverse natural resources including coal, clay, limestone, etc., with reserves of tens of millions of tons, has created a strong impetus for the development of mining, construction materials, and electricity production industries. It has attracted hundreds of investment projects, many of which are in the industrial manufacturing sector. Dong Trieu is also the largest producer of ceramics, construction materials, and fired clay in the province, with production distributed to provinces and cities nationwide and exported to many countries and territories, providing employment for thousands of workers.
In Dong Trieu City, there are 22 construction material production units, mainly concentrated in Kim Son ward and some other communes and wards such as Trang An, Hoang Que, Xuan Son, and Mao Khe. Of these, 16 units produce fired clay bricks and tiles; 4 units produce wall and floor tiles; and 2 units produce unfired bricks. These units supply the market with hundreds of millions of bricks/units per year and 30 million m² of products per year. Dat Viet Ceramic Joint Stock Company is a leading unit in construction material production. Dat Viet Ceramic consistently produces high-quality fired clay products with superior quality standards. To date, the company has launched more than 45 types of fired clay products worthy of national and international brand recognition, including key products such as: Cotto floor tiles; Cotto wall tiles; Korean-style wall panels; French-style roof tiles; and curved roof tiles.
In addition to developing its local strengths, Dong Trieu is actively developing new industries in a focused, modern, and sustainable manner. Many industrial centers and clusters have been established in Dong Trieu City, operating in a modern way, such as the Mao Khe Mechanical Center and the Kim Sen Industrial Cluster. These centers and clusters are initially operating effectively, attracting many industrial enterprises.
One notable example is Bach Nang Footwear Co., Ltd., a 100% foreign-invested enterprise operating in the Kim Sen Industrial Park since 2015, specializing in the production, import, and export of footwear. Currently, the company operates 15 sewing lines and 3 processing lines, producing 500-550 pairs of shoes per day. Its products are primarily exported to Europe. Mr. Chang Wei Tai, Deputy General Director of the company, stated: "Our company has created jobs for nearly 1,700 workers, mainly local laborers, with an average income of 8 million VND per person per month. In the future, the company hopes to continue receiving support and assistance from relevant departments and localities to complete the procedures for expanding production and contributing to the development of Dong Trieu."
Currently, the Kim Sen Industrial Cluster is operational with an occupancy rate of 73.7%; the Trang An Industrial Cluster is under establishment. According to the city's general plan until 2030, with a vision to 2050, Dong Trieu has set out directions to expand the Kim Sen 2 Industrial Cluster for the construction materials industry and the Yen Tho Industrial Cluster for the mechanical engineering, logistics, and inland waterway industries.
Dong Trieu's efforts in developing a modern and sustainable industrial sector have been demonstrated through concrete figures. In 2024, the city's economic growth rate reached 14.2%; the economic structure shifted positively and in the right direction, with the industrial sector accounting for 62.3%. Of this, the manufacturing sector had the largest share in the local industrial sector, accounting for 46%.
