Facilities and space are among the factors considered when determining enrollment quotas.
Accordingly, in preparation for the enrollment plan for the 2026-2027 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires all schools to review and fully update information on facilities and area (land, types of rooms). It should be noted that for rooms used by multiple grade levels, the information must be reported to only one grade level (avoiding duplicate reporting to other grade levels; priority should be given to the highest grade level or the grade level with the highest usage). For the total area of certain room types, please enter the total area of all room types divided by grade level.
After the review, schools must submit accurate reports and enter complete information into the database system of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training. Principals are responsible for checking the accuracy of the reports and statistical data. Statistical reports submitted to the Department of Education and Training must be consistent with the statistical reports kept at the school and in the system.
Information on facilities and area updated on the data system is one of the bases for considering and deciding on the school's enrollment targets for the 2026-2027 school year.
The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training emphasized that the department will have a plan to inspect and strictly handle units that fail to implement or implement inadequately or untimely the requirements for statistical reporting as stipulated.
Grade 10 admissions combine both entrance exams and selection based on academic records.
To prepare for the development of enrollment plans for the 2026-2027 school year, the first enrollment period in Ho Chi Minh City after the merger, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the enrollment for grade 10 in the 2026-2027 school year is expected to combine both selection and examination methods to suit the current situation.
Specifically, the 10th grade admission form for public high schools will be implemented in some specific areas. Public high schools in the remaining areas will enroll 10th grade students by entrance exam with 3 subjects: literature, math, foreign language. This is to maintain stability, create convenience for parents, students and schools after the merger of 3 localities.
The specialized departments will calculate and develop specific plans for each region and each school for admission and entrance exams in a reasonable manner to submit to the Director of the Department of Education and Training and carry out the steps according to regulations.
As Thanh Nien newspaper reported, immediately after the merger of the Education and Training Departments of the three former provinces and cities of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau in July, Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, issued directives on professional matters. These included emphasizing the development of a plan for the 2026-2027 school year enrollment for the new Ho Chi Minh City.
The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training instructed the Department's General Education Division to take the lead and coordinate with the Quality Management Division to propose a plan for the 10th grade enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year as soon as possible, so that students and teachers in educational institutions are aware and can orient themselves in teaching and learning.
In addition, the Department of Education and Training is implementing a plan to synchronize student and teacher information on the industry's database. The head of the Ho Chi Minh City education sector has assigned the Department's Office to lead and coordinate with relevant departments to review the database, ensuring the synchronization of databases of educational institutions in the three regions, and updating them fully on the industry's database. They are also tasked with developing a plan to determine the coordinates of all educational institutions in preparation for the enrollment process for the 2026-2027 school year.
