On the morning of September 1st, the first day that Nam Dinh City operated under its new administrative unit (expanded from the merger of My Loc district according to a resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee), the City People's Council held a session to elect new leadership positions in the government sector.
As a result, the People's Council of Nam Dinh City elected Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan , Member of the Standing Committee of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Nam Dinh City Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Dinh City (formerly), to continue serving as Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Dinh City (newly).
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung , Provincial Party Committee member and Deputy Secretary of the Nam Dinh City Party Committee, was elected Chairman of the Nam Dinh City People's Committee.
The City People's Council elected 2 Vice-Chairmen of the People's Council and 3 Vice-Chairmen of the People's Committee; consolidated the leadership positions of the People's Council's committees; resolved to establish 11 specialized agencies under the City People's Committee based on the rearrangement and reorganization of specialized agencies under the former Nam Dinh City People's Committee and the former My Loc District People's Committee; elected 13 members of the City People's Committee; elected 40 people's assessors; and appointed 7 groups of City People's Council delegates with 53 delegates.
Previously, the Executive Committee of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee decided to establish the (new) Nam Dinh City Party Committee, for the term 2020-2025, based on the merger of the former Nam Dinh City Party Committee and the My Loc District Party Committee.
Accordingly, the new Party Committee of Nam Dinh City officially commenced operations on September 1, 2024. Its headquarters are located at the current Nam Dinh City Party Committee building. The Executive Committee comprises 62 members, and the Standing Committee comprises 19 members.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan , member of the Standing Committee of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Dinh City (formerly), has been appointed to the position of Secretary of the Nam Dinh City Party Committee (newly).
The two Deputy Secretaries are Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung , Provincial Party Committee member and former Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nam Dinh province; and Mr. Tran Quoc Lap , Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of My Loc district (formerly).
The new Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Dinh City, Nguyen Anh Tuan, is 51 years old, from Dai An commune, Vu Ban district (Nam Dinh province); he holds a Bachelor's degree in Culture and a Senior Certificate in Political Theory.
Prior to his transfer to Nam Dinh City, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan successively served as Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Secretary of the Vu Ban District Party Committee, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office; Standing Committee member of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department of Nam Dinh. He was a member of the 12th National Assembly , representing the Nam Dinh Provincial delegation.
The new Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Dinh City, Nguyen Tien Dung, is 48 years old, hails from Tan Thanh commune, Vu Ban district (Nam Dinh province); he holds a PhD in Educational Management and has graduated from the Advanced Political Theory course.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung rose through the ranks of the education sector in Nam Dinh province. Before being transferred to Nam Dinh City (a few days ago), Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung successively worked as a teacher at Nguyen Trai High School (Truc Ninh district, same province); a department-level official, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training; and Director of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
After reorganization and expansion, Nam Dinh City has 21 commune-level administrative units (14 wards, 7 communes); it borders Nam Truc and Vu Ban districts (belonging to Nam Dinh province) and Ha Nam and Thai Binh provinces; it covers an area of 120.90 km2 and has a population of over 364,000 people.
Before reorganization and expansion, Nam Dinh City was a Type I urban area directly under the province; after reorganization and expansion, according to the criteria, the city was classified by the competent authority as a Type II urban area directly under the province.
