Implementing measures to ensure dike safety and respond to floods on the Ma River.

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the night of August 1st, the Department of Agriculture and Environment issued a document requesting the People's Committees of communes and wards with dikes to urgently implement measures to ensure dike safety in response to floods on the Ma River.

The water level of the Ma River is rising.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the floodwaters in the upper reaches of the Ma River are rising rapidly; from the evening of August 1st to August 3rd, a flood surge occurred on the Ma River, with the flood peak in the upper reaches reaching Level III, and in the middle and lower reaches reaching Levels I - II, and in some places exceeding Level II.

In accordance with Official Letter No. 844/DD-QLDD dated August 1, 2025, regarding the implementation of dike safety measures to respond to floods on the Ma River; to ensure the safety of the dike system and proactively respond to floods, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the People's Committees of communes and wards with dikes to urgently implement the following contents:

Inspect, review, and practically implement dike protection plans, safeguard critical and vulnerable dike sections, areas where incidents have occurred but have not yet been addressed or rectified, and dike construction projects that are still underway, in order to ensure safety.

Strengthen inspection work on dikes, strictly implement patrol and guard duties to protect dikes during the rainy season and floods as stipulated in Circular No. 01/2009/TT-BNN dated January 6, 2009 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) to promptly detect and handle any incidents or situations that may occur from the very beginning.

Prepare manpower, materials, vehicles, and equipment for dike protection; at the same time, conduct on-site inspections of preparations and proactively respond to potential incidents and situations according to the "four on-the-spot" principle, ensuring the safety of the dikes.

Maintain a 24/7 duty roster, deploy permanent forces at the incident sites, and promptly report any incidents related to dike and embankment structures to the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Control Command Office for coordinated guidance, handling, and compilation.
