Mr. Trump's victory in the 2024 US presidential election could usher in a new era for Elon Musk - the world's richest billionaire with a fortune of 260 billion USD.
In his victory speech, Trump paid a lengthy tribute to his biggest supporter, “a star has appeared in the sky: Elon.” If all goes according to plan, Elon Musk will become one of the most influential political and business advisers in the Trump 2.0 administration. Musk will take on the role of head of the Government Efficiency Department, charged with cutting what he sees as “the massive federal bureaucracy that is severely holding America back.” A tech entrepreneur by trade, the billionaire owner of Tesla and SpaceX has promised to support the removal of barriers, as well as influence US policy on artificial intelligence, space exploration and electric vehicles.

“Musk is a special person, a super genius,” Trump said of Musk . “We have to protect our geniuses, we don’t have many of them.” Before endorsing Trump, Musk, a self-proclaimed “free speech absolutist,” said he had voted for Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. The world’s richest billionaire publicly endorsed Trump’s White House bid just hours after the 78-year-old candidate was assassinated on July 13. Since then, Musk has devoted a lot of time and resources to supporting Trump’s re-election campaign. The Tesla boss has also donated $100 million to the Republican Party’s “America PAC.” Pennsylvania, a key battleground state, is where Musk has campaigned, and donated $1 million a day to voters who sign a petition supporting free speech. Musk even used a bus to take Amish voters who couldn’t drive to the polls on Election Day. Musk’s “investments” weren’t in vain. A Trump victory would add billions to the world’s richest man’s net worth. Tesla shares, for example, rose 13% in premarket trading on November 6. “Play to Win, No Half-Beat” In the months leading up to the vote, Musk used his own megaphone, the X platform (formerly Twitter), of which he owns and is the most popular account with more than 200 million followers, to flood his Twitter feed with messages of support for candidate Donald Trump. In the 24 hours of November 5 alone, Musk tweeted nearly 200 times, attracting 955 million views, compared with an average of 100 posts per day in the month leading up to the crucial vote. “My philosophy is you play, you play to win, not half-heartedly,” Musk said in an interview close to the vote.Elon Musk "won big" with his political investment. Critics say Musk has built bias into the platform’s algorithms and amplified far-right narratives and conspiracy theories with little or no evidence, while undercutting the platform’s moderation and fact-checking capabilities. Some have warned that Musk has become one of the biggest spreaders of election misinformation and conspiracies in the run-up to the election, such as promoting claims of potential voter fraud. An analysis by the fact-checking group PolitiFact of 450 of Musk’s posts in the first two weeks of October found a plethora of misinformation, with nearly 679 million views and more than 5.3 million likes. But Musk’s campaigning has won praise from Trump’s inner circle and liberal tech allies, who say his extraordinary interventions have strengthened Republican voices and brought transparency to politics.Vietnamnet.vn
