China is ready to further strengthen and deepen friendly exchanges and cooperation with the National Assembly of Vietnam.

On June 27, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.

During the meeting, both sides expressed pleasure at the positive progress in relations between the two Parties and countries in recent times, including exchanges and cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People's Congress of China. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions and reached many common understandings on measures to further strengthen and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China in general, and between the two legislative bodies in particular, in the coming period.

With the desire for both sides to continue to concretize and effectively implement the high-level common understanding reached between the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that both sides strengthen exchanges and delegations at all levels, promote and deepen substantive and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, enhance the exchange of experiences in Party building and national governance, promote friendly exchanges between the people of the two countries, coordinate closely and effectively in multilateral forums, and appropriately handle differences in a spirit of friendship, in accordance with the high-level common understanding and international law.

The Prime Minister expressed his hope that the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese National People's Congress would create a favorable legal framework, enhance their supervisory and oversight roles, and urge ministries, sectors, and localities on both sides to actively implement high-level common understandings and signed documents and agreements, promote cooperation in various fields, and further strengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China in the future.

Emphasizing that practical cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries is an important part of the overall relationship between the two Parties and the two countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People's Congress of China maintain regular exchanges and delegations between specialized committees and people's councils at all levels, promote the role of the two Vietnam-China Friendship Parliamentary Groups as a bridge of friendship; and strengthen the exchange of experiences on improving the effectiveness of legislative bodies and building a socialist rule of law state.

The Prime Minister conveyed the invitation from the Vietnamese National Assembly to a delegation of young parliamentarians from the National People's Congress of China to attend the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, hosted by the Vietnamese National Assembly from September 14-18, 2023 in Hanoi.

Chairman Zhao Leji affirmed that China and Vietnam are geographically close, share similar ideals and development paths; strengthening the learning and sharing of experiences in Party building and national governance, and deepening the friendly neighborly relations and comprehensive cooperation between China and Vietnam are in line with the aspirations of the people of both countries.

Comrade Zhao Leji highly appreciated and expressed his agreement with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposals on developing relations between the two Parties and the two countries. He emphasized that China and Vietnam are two friendly, socialist neighbors, both bearing the historical mission of bringing happiness to the people and development to the country.

Comrade Zhao Leji stated that maintaining Sino-Vietnamese solidarity and friendship is a practical necessity for steadily advancing on the path of socialism and achieving prosperous development for each country. China attaches great importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with Vietnam and is ready to work with Vietnam to effectively implement the high-level agreements and common understandings reached, promoting the Sino-Vietnamese comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level.

Comrade Zhao Leji affirmed that the National People's Congress of China is ready to further strengthen and deepen friendly exchanges and practical cooperation with the National Assembly of Vietnam, contributing to the continuous development of the China-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the future.
