Head of Miss Vietnam Global Tourism Organizing Committee apologizes for 'mistake' statement

Mr. Pham Duy Khanh, Head of the organizing committee of the Miss Tourism Vietnam Global 2024 contest, apologized for his statement during the final night on September 21 in Hai Phong.

In his apology, Mr. Khanh admitted to making a mistake when he said on live broadcast: "We are very happy to welcome the biggest storm ever." He explained that his intended statement was: "We are very happy that the contest is still taking place even though Hai Phong has just experienced the biggest storm ever."

Head of Organizing Committee Miss Vietnam Tourism Global 2024 said the incident was caused by many factors, including him being distracted by organizational issues before the opening ceremony, as well as his speech paper getting wet due to wind and rain. He expressed deep remorse and asked for everyone's forgiveness.

In addition, Mr. Khanh also explained about personally crowning the new queen. miss Ky Duyen instead let the reigning beauty queen Ly Kim Thao do it. The incident happened because Ly Kim Thao's dress design made her unable to raise her arms so she asked him to put the crown on her instead.

Mr. Khanh emphasized that the Organizing Committee has carried out practical activities to support local people after the storm. Specifically, the contest canceled the semi-final night to organize for contestants to participate in cleaning up fallen trees and visiting lonely elderly people. In addition, the Organizing Committee and contestants donated 150 million VND to support people in flooded areas through the Hai Phong City Fatherland Front Committee.

At the end of the post, Mr. Pham Duy Khanh once again apologized and pledged to learn from experience and accept feedback to improve himself in the future.
