Mr. Pham Duy Khanh, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Miss Tourism Vietnam Global 2024 competition, apologized for his remarks during the final night on September 21st in Hai Phong.
In his apology, Mr. Khanh admitted his mistake when he said on live television: "We are very happy to welcome the biggest storm ever." He explained that his intended statement was: "We are very happy that the competition is still going ahead despite Hai Phong having just experienced the biggest storm ever."
Head of Organizing Committee Miss Tourism Vietnam Global 2024 stated that the incident occurred due to several factors, including his distraction by organizational issues before the opening ceremony, as well as his speech paper getting wet due to rain and wind. He expressed deep remorse and hoped for everyone's forgiveness.
In addition, Mr. Khanh also explained why he personally crowned the new winner. miss Instead of letting the reigning Miss Vietnam, Ly Kim Thao, do it, Ky Duyen asked the man to crown her. The incident occurred because the design of Ly Kim Thao's dress prevented her from raising her arm, so she asked him to put the crown on her.
Mr. Khanh emphasized that the organizing committee had undertaken practical activities to support local people after the storm. Specifically, the competition canceled the semi-final night to allow contestants to participate in clearing fallen trees and visiting elderly people living alone. In addition, the organizing committee and contestants donated 150 million VND to support flood victims through the Hai Phong City Fatherland Front Committee.
Concluding his post, Mr. Pham Duy Khanh once again offered his apologies and pledged to learn from his mistakes and accept feedback to improve himself in the future.
