According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Tung, Principal of MVL Lomonosov Secondary and High School, this year the school has decided to give teachers a Tet bonus equivalent to one month's salary, calculated as the average income over the 12 months of the 2024 calendar year.
The average Tet bonus for teachers is expected to be 22 million VND per person, with the highest amount exceeding 35 million VND. "This is a well-deserved reward for the hard work, dedication, and contributions of teachers throughout the past period," he said.
The first school in Hanoi has finalized Tet bonuses for teachers, with the highest bonus exceeding 35 million VND.
The principal also added that the Tet bonus wasn't particularly high because the school was closed for 12 days during Tet, which would reduce teachers' income in January 2025. The school doesn't pay a fixed monthly salary but calculates it based on the number of teaching hours multiplied by the salary, so a 12-day break would reduce income. He hoped the Tet bonus would provide some support for those days off.
According to the latest announcement from Lomonosov Primary, Secondary, and High School, the Lunar New Year holiday will be from January 22nd to February 2nd, 2025, which is from the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month to the 5th day of the 1st lunar month. Students will return to school on Monday, February 3rd, 2025 (the 6th day of the 1st lunar month). The total holiday period is 12 days.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade announced a Tet bonus of 25 million VND per person for all lecturers, staff, and leaders. Employees who have worked for one year or more, including those studying abroad or on maternity leave, will receive the same Tet bonus. In addition, the university will give each person a lucky money gift of 3 million VND at the beginning of the new year.
This bonus amount is similar to last year. With approximately 800 lecturers and staff, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade is expected to spend more than 20 billion VND. The university's Lunar New Year holiday will last 28 days, from January 20th to February 16th, 2025 (i.e., from the 21st day of the 12th lunar month to the 19th day of the 1st lunar month).
