Along with implementing poverty reduction policies, Tam Nong district has effectively utilized various information and communication channels. In particular, the local broadcasting system has helped people in the area access information, gradually changing their perceptions and striving to escape poverty sustainably.
Public address staff in Tho Van commune, Tam Nong district, operate the smart public address system.
It has become a habit for Mr. Nguyen Van Duong from Tho Van commune to listen to the commune's radio program at 6 a.m. every morning. He shared: "Every day, I listen to the morning news from the commune's loudspeaker. These news bulletins help people keep up with the latest information, especially information about effective farming and livestock models and the market. In particular, they help people understand poverty reduction support policies and access to loan capital... Through this, my family confidently borrowed 100 million VND from the bank to invest in planting lacquer trees, contributing to improving and enhancing our family's life."
Previously, the public address system in Tho Van commune had deteriorated after a long period of use and was no longer effective. In 2021, the commune received a complete upgrade to its information and telecommunication technology system (smart broadcasting). Accordingly, the system now covers 8 residential areas, comprising 16 clusters with 32 loudspeakers, as well as equipment for managing, storing information, and producing broadcast programs (professional hardware and software using information technology).
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, a commune broadcasting officer: “Having been assigned the task of operating the commune's public address system, I always adhere to the principles and work effectively. For local news bulletins, I edit the content to make it easy for people to understand and remember. This allows everyone to access information quickly, accurately, and promptly, especially policies related to poverty reduction.”
In recent times, Tho Van commune has intensified its efforts in disseminating the Party's guidelines and the State's policies on sustainable poverty reduction. Thanks to timely information, people understand the policies and grasp production techniques, choosing crops and livestock suitable to their family's actual conditions. Comrade Tran Van Dong, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: “To bring policies to every household in the area, we focus on disseminating information through the local broadcasting system. The advantage of broadcasting is its wide coverage; people can access information while participating in labor and production. The commune is determined to ensure that no one is left ‘information-poor’.”
The grassroots broadcasting system truly serves as a "bridge" to convey the Party's guidelines and policies, as well as the State's laws and regulations, making a significant contribution to achieving sustainable poverty reduction goals. Currently, all 12 grassroots broadcasting stations in the district utilize information technology-based broadcasting systems. This has significantly improved the effectiveness of transmitting news and information to the people, contributing to the successful implementation of digital transformation in the district.
To ensure effective communication, especially in flood and storm prevention, the District's Culture, Sports , Tourism and Communication Center (CST) coordinated with and urged technical staff from Bac Viet Company, assigned to Tam Nong district, to repair and fix malfunctions in the receiver and compression speaker systems and promptly report on the operational status of the local radio station.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Khanh, Director of the Tam Nong District Center for Culture, Sports, Tourism and Information, with its advantages of timeliness, convenience, and wide coverage, the local broadcasting system in the district has played an important role in promptly transmitting information about the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction. Thanks to this, people understand the goals and significance of the policy, avoiding passivity and reliance on government support.
With programs closely reflecting real life, highlighting socio -economic development, successful models, effective methods, and exemplary individuals, the grassroots broadcasting system plays a crucial role in achieving sustainable poverty reduction goals in Tam Nong district.
