The Vietnam U20 women's team entered the match against Iran U20 with the determination to win. Bao Tram and her teammates quickly gained a good position against a strong opponent.

However, the home team fell into a difficult situation right at the beginning of the match. In the 9th minute, Nhu Quynh made a mistake when she sent the ball into her own net after a pass from Mohaddesh Zolfi. U20 Iran took the lead, but coach Akira Ijiri's students quickly got an equalizer.

From a great combination between Hoang Van and Minh Chuyen on the right wing, the ball came to Ngoc Anh's feet and this player easily finished to equalize 1-1 for U20 Vietnam. The equalizer came just one minute after conceding a goal.

Vietnam U20 women's team won against Iran U20 women's team.

With the goal, U20 Vietnam played better and better. The home team started to put more pressure on the opponent and created scoring opportunities. In the 36th minute, U20 Vietnam's efforts were rewarded. From Thanh Thao's tricky free kick, Ngoc Minh Chuyen scored from close range to help U20 Vietnam take the lead 2-1.

Entering the second half, the home team still had the better position. In the 64th minute, Nhat Lan fired a powerful long-range shot that Fatemeh struggled to block. Substitute Le Thi Trang quickly finished close to the goal, raising the score to 3-1 for U20 Vietnam. The red team continued to have more chances but could not score more goals to widen the gap.

In the 88th minute, Iran U20 women's team made the match more exciting with a goal to shorten the score. Hasti Foroozandeh successfully executed the penalty kick to shorten the score to 2-3.

However, that effort was not enough and the Iran U20 women's team had to accept defeat against the Vietnam U20 team. Coach Akira Ijiri and his team ranked 2nd in Group A, the 2nd qualifying round of the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship after the first round of matches.
